Canon vs Nikon

Hehe! So I'm not the only using the "family photo" excuse to purchase a DSLR. :D
Hospitals should give new parents a dslr and a nifty-fifty as part of the going home package! :D

It will come down to how it feels in your hand. When I bought my first camera I looked at the specs but they were almost identical, but where it really mattered was the feeling of the camera in hand. In that sense the Nikon feels so much better than the Canon. The buttons is where it should be and just the whole body of the camera feels better than a Canon.
Dont worry to much about the 1 having 1 meg bigger, colour depth a bit more, or can take 1 photo more per second, it really doesnt matter in the long run, but you do want to be able to pick up the camera and let all the buttons and switches fall at the right place. This will matter way more when you are taking photos the whole day long. If you are not planning on taking 100's and 100's of photos all day long, and just looking to take a pic now and again, get a coolpic 5100, X36 zoom!

One thing i've realised is that Canon make better cameras, Nikon make better adverts.

Man I  the Nikon adverts
