Can't authenticate with any account

Hi,

Please can somebody provide some options that i can try, i am getting nowhere with afrihost or telkom.

Our line stopped syncing last sunday (phone still worked), telkom tech went to exchange and the phone stopped working, the tech blamed afrihost for suspending line, afrihost said they never suspended line. Tech comes again on the wednesday goes to exchange, adsl can now sync and phone line working but nothing authenticates. Tech still blames afrihost and says they must have fixed it (voice line included :erm: ) , said he would phone back to confirm all is working the next day...2 days later nothing. what a surprise. TelkomZA on twitter also confirm line has never been suspended.

6 days later and still can't authenticate, have tried 3 afrihost accounts, 1 cybersmart account, telkom guest account, and another telkom account provided today, which i knew was a waste of time.

Have restored factory settings on router (dlink 2640u) rerun the setup wizard with correct VCI/VPI settings etc. Still no authentication.

Where do i go from here?

Is that the same as a port reset? Cos that's been done a few times already.
 
Having same issue here as well.
voice side active and ADSL suspended

the line sync etc but wont connect.
I have phoned numerous times trying to clear this
at my wits end to be honest

This has been a wide spread issue with telkom this past week. In some cases resetting your password if you have you data with them helped but in others it had no effect neither did using a third party account.
 
Probably an issue with Telkom's RADIUS servers that handle any and all DSL authentication. We had the same once a year or two back, and it was a nightmare to resolve. Good luck. :(
 
what does afrihost say about the issue?

The usual, have asked for feedback from telkom blah blah blah, reset your port etc etc. And telkom are like here try this account, yea cos i havn't tried 5 others. This is ridiculous.

And then you just sit, tech never calls back, never hear any feedback. Don't even bother logging calls to afrihost via clientzone, you wont get a response. The afrireps are helpfull but there's only so much they can do.

Theres nowhere to enter the VCI/VPI settings unless you use the wizard, i checked every tab in the router control panel.
I'm sure every dsl router has that option, what are you using for the VCI/VPI. And are you using PPPoE?
 
8 and 35, LLU, pppoe. It autosets it when using the cd. Anyway, this wouldn't have changed on it's own when this all started. If these were wrong the line wouldn't sync surely?

Do you mean LLC?
 
Hi,

Does this make any sense to anybody?

Telkom are saying that our port is active but that they have not seen a connection from us in 3 Months, our issue started 9 days ago. He says the issue is definitely with afrihost, even after mentioning that any ISP account does not authenticate. They then closed the fault and we are stuck with nothing.
 
Ask them to send a tech to your house with a modem and to try log into the Telkom guest account
 
That would be common sense, but they seem to just blame everybody but themselves so they don't have to do any work. If I could just get 5mins with one of these techs, but im at work so they have to deal with my dad :(
 
TelkomZA now reckon theres a network fault in the area. Telkoms app finds nothing for the fault ref they sent me, and nobody has mentioned this between afrihost/Telkom in the last 8 days, sounds like they just trying to get rid of me for a while?
