Was hoping someone could enlighten me please.

Can't make use of anything else besides what's on our intranet.

Using IE8 me thinks.

No Google, nada.

IE just give an error message, that it's unable to connect to the internet.

Clicking on the "Diagnose Connections" button brings along the following.

Code:
Last diagnostic run time: 12/15/09 15:59:29 Network Adapter Diagnostic
Network location detection

info Connecting through work or corporate network
info Redirecting user to support call

HTTP, HTTPS, FTP Diagnostic
HTTP, HTTPS, FTP connectivity

warn FTP (Passive): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: A connection with the server could not be established
info HTTP: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
warn FTP (Active): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: A connection with the server could not be established
info HTTPS: Successfully connected to www.microsoft.com.
error Could not make an FTP connection.

So how is it possible that I can't browse the web through our own proxy from the office, but am able to connect through the proxy I'm currently using now?

Sorry if this is a bit of a no-brainer for you okes :p

I was simply interested to know how it's done or what the issue could be.

Cheers

Could it be that your Office Proxy is blocking all external sites, except HTTPS, for banking?
