Can't Do

For all the money that Telkom is spending on marketing its new service, you'd think it would have got its ducks in a row or trained its agents better.

Clearly little experience in dealing with Telkom :)

Finally

Finally a real world article that tells a story other than the telkom iron curtain propoganda.

Unfortunately they have, when my Telkom bill came around the other day I caught a Telkom agent in my house flipping through recipes and adjusting my oven temp; I got the distinct feeling I was on the menu

As far as the call centre goes the people there are defnitely varied in skill level. I spent many hours on 10219 and spoken to many agents. Some are very clued up and others are just plain dumb. It depends on the person and their experience. When I called about doBroadband a few weeks ago the girl I spoke to gave me a helluva lot of info. I am still considering taking it though, not sure if I want to yet.

Jetpacman is absolutely right. For the article we called the contact centre once and got someone clueless. Another call later got someone with a brain but the rules of the feature are that everyone gets called once, because we need to be consistent.

Its hard to train agents when the information is thin.

Band wagon

I cant help but to jump on the band wagon too. Its is a very old topic but still very real, here goes:

I stopped using Telkom as a service provider for useage. Long ago. But I still get the email everyday telling me that I used nothing. I try to discontinue the email but since my username was stopped I can not. Phoning telkom for assistance was an EXTREME situation. I spoke to 10, yes 10, consultants in one telephone call and ALL, yes again ALL, of them put me through to someone that can help me. Eventually I told the lady that the bug stops with her, and gave her details like my old username and telephone number. She promised, yes promised, to pass it on to someone that can help. It would appear at this time, that she passed it on the rubbish bin, thinking that some help for me will come forth because NOTHING, yes nothing, has happened, I still get an email from Telkom everyday telling me I used nothing!!!???.

How should anyone in their right mind want to deal with Telkom? We are forced to be out of our minds!!

What information? telkom also employs incompetent idiots. it's like making a copy of a copy, it just gets worse.

A call to a Telkom call centre is the worst experience there is. That music makes a person murderous, enraged, peeved off and just plain nauseated. Best part is being on hold for 20-30 minutes (if you're lucky) and then having some brainless git pick up at the same number you've called at least a hundred times in the past tell you that you've dialed the wrong number and that he's putting you through to the right place.... Where you either hang up, or spend another 20 minutes explaining that you ALREADY HAVE ADSL and you just want ANOTHER ACCOUNT.....

Jeez, these people have traumatised me.

Did you try replying to the email ?

Anyway, if your DSL username contained "029" and the email address that was notified contained "ters", then you should no longer receive notifications.

(of course this should be done automatically when accounts are removed ...)

How to stop usage e-mail if you cancelled your account.

1.)Go here: https://secure.telkomsa.net/
2.)Scroll to bottom of the page(the thick blue line)and click on webmaster.A e-mail "thingy" will open.
3.)Ask them nicely:p if they could cancel your username.(enter username)
4.)Send and Bob's your uncle.

I've done it plenty times and it works.(The only time I got good service from Telkom)

If it really works, should you not have done it only once?!
