So I've been renovating my house for just over a year now. Construction is still happening, but when I called telkom to split the line (because they are flats now) they say the builders destroyed the line in the process. They also claim that they do not know where it is and the builder doesn't know either. Where and how do I begin to trace from where the ADSL box begins and where it joins to my house. I had a telkom line with ADSL before and everything was fine.

I dont really understand your post properly, I think you're going to have to explain better. Are your cables underground or something?

Destroyed the line? If the line was destroyed you wouldn't have any service

Telkom have line testing equipment which allows them to see where a line breaks continuity etc. They can't tell you that they "don't know where it is" - it's precisely their job to find out where it is. Furthermore all of their own infrastructure should be documented and regional management should be able to get hold of that easily if required

Do you have a telephone line? That is your adsl line :) add a filter and that us where you plug in your land line.....
