I bought a 60Gig package yesterday. I have a Windows 7 64 bit machine. The installation goes weel and finishes with no errors.

When I open the dashboard I get a message that says WLan service is unavailable.

Can anyone help.

I sent 2 emails to CellC but no replies as yet.

Disable Wireless network connection in Windows and see it works now. On laptop there is usually a signle button to turn off all wireless stuff.

That is in my office in York Avenue, Randburg, from a XP machine. Signal strength 100%

At my house in Wilgeheuwel it is around 28Kbs. Signal strength 100%

I am very dissapointed. I cant get the thing to work on a Windows 7 64bit Pro box.

I am going to take it back and get a refund.

It must be the modem since I have a E1820 (Huawei) modem and the CellC dashboard works 100% on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) laptop. The throughput is a bit iffy but that is another story. I'm in Cape Town southern suburbs and my nearest tower is about 800m away.

See if you can get updated drivers

Observe LED status on the modem. From CellC dashboard try to force modem to 3G. Watch LED. If doesn't pickup network use manual search. If signal is detected, but it refuses registration, try the following: do manual selection for other network like Vodacom, it will fail, but next time attempt to select CellC can be successful. Weird, I know, but it was helping me couple of times.
Read sticky thread "stuck on EDGE, unable...".

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I got it to work on my home Pc. Gave up on work Pc's.

The other problem I have is that it only works when I am logged in as administrator.

When I log in as user I can only get it to work if I Run it as Administrator.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you running as a "guest"? Create standard user account. You are wise to surf Internet using limited account. I know that many companies do alter group policy and normal users are not allowed to access USB ports at all.

What program you hav to run as admin?

Yes, running as guest at home. Will create another account and try it from there. All my users at work have a limited account.

I run the Connector from CellC.

Strange, whenever I do install a program as administrator it also runs as user. And I have installed thousands of programs in my life.

The Connector does not.

For the w7 64bit problem - Only guessing but try to check Connector has the 3G modem selected.

Bottom right.... click on the network icon...find "Connector" one.....select & right click properties.
At the top of the box under "connect using" make sure it is the 3G modem that is checked/ticked & not something else.

it will also need *99# put in the "phone number" field

Yip, create a limited account for Internet browsings and all other activities (except management), it must be member of "user" group. The same for all home users. Advantage is that each user has his/her own desktop.
I don't know connector, but it should appear after login to the new account. :)

I dont have Windows7 64 bit however I would assume that you would be able to skip connecting via the dashboard and setup the connection via the networking manager. Failing that using MDMA should do the trick
