Can't get voicemail button to work!!!

OK, so i've got an iPhone 3G, I'm with MTN, and before I upgraded to 3.1.2 recently (and 3.1.3 today) my voicemail button would dial MTN's '100' to get to my voicemail, I believe I used *5005*86*100# to tell my phone what my voicemail number was
now with 3.1.2/3 when i put that code into the keypad the screen flashes 'please wait' for a split second, like it doesn't work, and that's it, the voicemail button still just says 'contact your provider'

has anyone got a clue as to what is going on with my phone?

As far as I know the only simplest method was the *5005*86*yourvoicemailphonenumber# trick and it worked with unsupported carriers.

Oh another thing, since you with MTN. Go to www.unlockit.co.nz on your iPhone, and you can create your own APN in order to use Internet Tethering on your iPhone.
