Some useless information...Burger King was brought to our local shores by a local Muslim businessman.
By making them fully halaal, he satisfies his target market in CPT.

I fully understand the point you are trying to make. Heston's target market isn't specifically for the conservative religiously restricted foodie. Therefore if it aint halaal or kosher just move on to somewhere else.

Modern Cuisine yes, historically it is very much native European with British all over it. You should check Heston's Feasts, great TV show. Go check how Asian cuisines is modernised today, by non-Asians.

So what? The fact that 'eastern spices' are used now creates the need to cater for all 'eastern' cultures? The ingredients has f@rkall to do with the target market. His target market is ppl who appreciates his innovation, his scienttific approach and his ability to throw tradition on it's head and create a 'once in a life time' type eating experience. Not targeted at the 'oh I dont eat bacon and I am therefore excluded' martyr...

He should be more open minded and cater for all people so that we all can eat good food and not just Burger King in Cape Town

I think that would be the duty of muslim chefs in opening halal restaurants, not a non muslim chef having to remove a host of ingredients in order to comply with religious dictates.
 
This forum is hilarious. I wanted to start a thread discussion of 'the movement of electrons within different materials' and 'the chemical composition of safety matches' but decided not to because those would definitely lead to some sort of religious spat

Isn't curry & rice the nr 1 dish in the UK, or is it fish & chips?

Mind you, had some great curries in the more upper market SOHO restaurants.
