Cap on Iburst

That's an interesting point. It seems they don't care about stealing ADSL customers from Telkom.

Noone, what is probably more troubling is that bb_matt's opinion might not be flawed - it could be that both Sentech & WBS just haven't researched the market properly.

If these companies had done their research they would know that ~R700 per month was not in the range of the market they wanted to capture.

Has anyone else noticed a marked decrease in speed since Wednesday?

I am starting to think that WBS have actually implemented some form of traffic shaping and/or cap because my downloads have been maxing out at 11KBps (88Kbps) which is really frustrating, but regular http traffic is still speedy.

Am I loosing it.....don't answer that.

Sounds like they're starting to morf the service into what they plan to offer at the official launch.

The bit that I never understand about ISPs who implement a cap is why they don't just lay out the cash and host gameservers (R12000 tops and it should be able to host a few games), if they get a good community going the gamers will never even leave their network saving them huge amounts on people who constantly use traffic and it has the advantage of being excellent public relations (they appear to be "in touch" with the community).

Either I'm smoking the crack or they are and I haven't been able to get decent crack in weeks.

Drop in signal strength and slowdown on Thursday night. Back to full strength last night. NNTP transfers at a maximum of 121 kB/sec. FTP this morning from a local site at an average of 91kB/sec.

Some international sites are slow but I think that is all you leeches contending for bandwidth with me! ;) So, as a general rule, it is still working fine for me.
