Cape Town 3G Coverage

MTNer, since you appear up to date regarding the current MTN 3G situation, there might be some value in repeating a question thats been around for a while (and to which I don't think there's been a definitive answer).

Are there any plans for a 3G rollout in the Cape Town area? Will we see coverage expand from the current CBD/Century City/Airport sites? And if so, when could we be expecting this rollout?

Any details regarding the above would be brilliant Tnx.

In answer to your question, yes 3G coverage will be expanded beyond the current coverage area.

In excess of 200 new 3G sites are planned for the 2nd phase of 3G rollout in the Western Cape. Pretty much the entire Cape Peninsula (the whole of Cape Town and suburbs - excuse my geography) as well as sites in George, Mossel Bay, Kynsna, and Plettenberg Bay (as well as several others). This rollout will begin by approx mid year an continue over a period of several months.

Vodacom should fill the gaps in their currenct coverage before they expand it further....Either that or deploy 3G on WCDMA 900 I suspose ill have to get another phone then....
