Cape Town ADSL Problems?

Yep. I'm in Meadowridge/Constantia. My internet was out the whole of Monday and came back this morning (Tuesday). The telkom dude told me I might be without internet for 24hrs-48hrs, I almost cried :( My internet would synch and "act" normal, but I couldn't connect. Anyone have similar problems?

Wynberg Still down

Ok, Wynberg area still down. I'm not going to even talk about what I went through with Telkom. From one story to another the idiot consultant insisted that it was my router that was faulty and said I must take it to telkom direct and have it tested. To which I did and they told me they dont test the routers and can't and told me there are outages since monday. Which the lady could have told me that first. Telkom se ma se.....
Anyways any news on when we gona be online soon?

International's down and local's crawling here in Jo'burg too (according to most people at least). Can't get through to Telkom ISP - get an engaged tone. As usual when there's a general outage. SAIX refusing to log my complaint unless it comes from Telkom ISP

Same problem here, N subs of Cape Town. SAIX international is basically dead. Sites load extremely slow or don't load at all.
As a test, I always use www.latimes.com for consistency. The server usually responds within 1 second and then the site downloads at 40Kb/sec (my fullspeed on 384Kbps) so the site is loaded within a few seconds. However, now it can take up to 1 minute just for the site to respond and then another 40 seconds or so to load the site. SAIX is therefore extremely slow.
On www.youtube.com when I play a video it usually responds within 2 seconds and then buffers at 40Kb/sec. Now I can't even get the vids to start.

What experience do you have on these sites?
What is the actual problem with SAIX at the moment? Surely by now the ISP's must have received proper feedback from SAIX as to what the issue is and when it will be resolved?

That pretty much sums up my consistent experience between local tracerts.

International sites have been extremely slow for me for about a week now...

Locally I get about 280KB/s internationally I'm lucky if I get 10KB/s... it is intermittent with some sites and consistent with others, which indicates upstream router problems IMO.

terrible speed in milnerton, blauvberg and some montegue gardens clients are complaining
