what kind of help could i be?
im an asthmatic so can't be on the front lines what else can i do?

Mobile Ops

Of all of which you should receive lots of training so when the time comes, you'll know what you doing, and do it well!

Besides, Tassidar will agree with me, there is alot of things you can do at the VWS.
I joined to be a fire fighter - I do marketing and a few other stuff too. :)

This is the info from AFIS (Advanced Fire Information Service) as to where it is still burning. For those that don’t know AFIS. It is an automated website taking satellite images every 15min of South Africa. Software then processes the data and draws red blocks of areas that are burning larger than 50 square meters. Currently Somerset West has 7 blocks of 50 square meters or larger.

just heard if anyone wants to take some more drinks etc to the firefighters they should take it to the Somerset West Police station as the vergelegen farm can't handle the overwhelming amounts of supplies coming in.

YAY!!!! that means lots of people have been supporting them!!!

Yeah!
That or the Vergelegen security won't let anyone in :)

they where collecting the drinks @ the guard house yesterday im assuming it is now FULL
we did not get to go up to the fire fighters at all

DAM i wanted to go up and give it myself but i understand why they don't want a million people running around on the farm

Wow thanks for that link to the hotspots map - I have now got the hotspots on Google Earth and can see exactly what is going on... this is brilliant (I should be working, but what the hell, I soooooo enjoy doing things like this rather!!)

I can understand that too many people in an area delivering food etc could get in the way, be a nuisance etc. Good to hear so much is being delivered though, it sure restore one's faith in humanity.

There is another team going out tomorrow, so this fire is going to be going for a few more days!

I'm going to go Thursday if the fire is still going (I've already arranged a day off)
I told work, either give me a day off or I'm using a sick day.

But help I shall :)

I am getting a new back pack (water bottle) (3L), it should have arrived today, so it will def be ready for use / testing on Thursday as well as my older one which is 2L.

Going to freezer it up nicely so I have ice cold water all day.

Oh, I also take 2 water bottles (ones cyclists use) and when I work with other volunteer teams, i give them those because they generally don't carry water with them.
