I’m in Cape Town for holiday with my family and looking for family-friendly suggestions of unmissable experiences … whether food or entertainment.

I’d love a suggestion for the best fish and chips experience (fresh-caught fish and nothing as upmarket as Cape Town Fish Market - I’d rather be right next to the sea).

TIA :)

Go up on the Table Mountain cable car. They are having a 94th Birthday special of only R200 for an adult and R100 for children for the month of October. This promotion is valid Monday to Friday only, not weekends.

Already done this. Arrived at the ticket counter and was told to buy tickets online to qualify for the special. Did that from my phone and everything worked out perfectly. So worth it! Love Table Mountain.

Thanks for heads up. My daughter was asking when am I taking her up the mountain.

Can't beat Hout Bay for super fresh fish, anywhere really there and something for every budget.

You have accommodation sorted I take it?

Do you drink wine?

Capetonions, let me recommended you the best places and routes here.

Gautenger's whats wrong with you? You dont have Google maps? Tsek!

TBH I do not understand threads like these? I have the same issue with family and friends that come and visit us overseas.

What you like is SO subjective. How can strangers on the internet provide you with travel ideas that YOU will definitely like?

Make a list of what you like to do when on holiday.
Google those things in Cape Town
Do it...

As much as it is subjective, someone could recommend something you didn't know you wanted to do..

If you don't ask, you won't know..

So that’s two votes for these people, thanks! I like that Simon’s Town is the location of Boulders Beach (penguins!!!), so I can tick that off the list at the same time.
When in Simons Town go visit the massive crystals shop called Scratch Patch. My wife spends hours in there. Kids love it too and can go collect bags of crystals outside for a very cheap price. https://www.scratchpatch.co.za/

I found a place that looks promising: Eastern Bazaar on Longmarket Street.

Affordable Chinese, Indian and Turkish food under a single roof.

Anybody know it? Seems well-rated on Google.
