Some family (couple, no kids, and never been to CT before) are coming to Cape Town over the weekend Friday evening- Sunday Evening and I have been designated to take them around. I was thinking:

Friday-Supper at Waterfront
Saturday-Boulders Beach
-Cape Point
-Lunch at Brass Bell
-Seal Island (from Hout Bay Harbour)
Sunday- Table Mountain
-Rhodes Mem
-Waterfront/Arts and Crafts market

Weather is looking good over the weekend as well. Was also thinking stellies but dont think there will be time. Are there any other worthwhile things to do/ to look at?

Very nice schedule as far as I can see - I think you've included lots of great stuff.

Though I'm not a huge fan of the Brass Bell personally - great being on the water and all but I've only had one good plate of food there of all 5 or so times I've gone!

It's raining in Vredehoek right now... hopefully this goes away, but I wouldn't hold out for great weather...

Have a 'bad weather' plan :D

Try the Water Taxi from Simon's Town to Kalk Bay or Harbour tour in Simon's Town if weather is good. The Toad in Noordhoek is a good alternative to the Brass Bell.

Nice !

Sunday

Scenic drive around Stellenbosch before or after breakfast at Asara or a scenic drive to Franschoek for lunch and or I also recommend a 'champagne tasting' at Simonsig (Kaapse Vonkel).

Along the way to Franschoek, you can pop in quickly at the antique car museum.

great weather for the weekend. so no worries there.

the waterfront is overrated in my opinion. it's a shopping centre. a pretty one, but still a shopping centre. i would go for supper someplace with a view of the mountain. think blowfish in dolphin beach, primi tableview, maestro's woodbridge island (a lot closer to town!).

a trip to cape point should be made CLOCKWISE around the peninsula to ensure you are on the side of the road closest to the sea. your itinerary seems to suggest some confusion. boulders to cape point to kalk bay (brass bell) to hout bay means crisscrossing the peninsula. try muizenberg down to simonstown (boulders beach), cape point, hout bay (via chapman's) to hout bay. lunch could be at (the very overpriced and not so good) cape point restaurant or somewhere in hout bay (not sure what to recommend here). seal island in the afternoon sounds excellent to me - it won't be too windy (25km/h), too cold (15), although there is still pretty big swell predicted (4.5m+). you might get lucky and see the mighty dungeons big wave surfers in action as you sail by! if conditions are not good for the seal island trip, you can continue up to camps bay and have lunch there rather. stop off at signal hill and relax the rest of the day - the peninsula round trip is tiring!

table mountain on sunday sounds good. get there early (to avoid the queue and the wind!). rhodes mem can be followed up with kirstenbosch.

OR start saturday with table mountain before continuing on to cape point etc. then do the winelands on sunday. up to you :)

Thanks so much for the suggestions. The itinerary wasnt mentioned in order, so thanks droplet will go in the route you mentioned. I will reconsider Brass Bell depending on where we are during lunch. Also not keen on driving as Franschoek, although would be awesome takes up time. Was looking at the weather for sunday and it might be overcast in the morning, reckon I will switch the Sunday Table mountain trip with Saturday seal island. I know its in opposite direction but Hout bay is 25 minutes from where I am coming from, so will try get it done Sunday morning. The lady wants to do shopping so will try squeeze in greenmarket square after table mountain then hit boulders beach, cape point and come back via chapmans peak.

Stay away from Greenmarket Square - nothing but African Arts and Crafts / masks / cloths and necklaces - and damn overpriced - ripping ppl off there. Rather go to Canal Wwalk / Waterfront Arts and Crafts.
