went there just after 5pm, took me 15min to upgrade the old card to the new debit mastercard, they imprint your name on the card at the branch, though it does not stand out like a normal credit card , does have an expire date and cvc code on it.
The banck charges is the same , you use your savings account money on this card, they destroy the old card.
very impressed with the service was so quick to get it done, and that all after 5pm , take that steve!

Got mine also after work. Also took about 15 - 20 minutes. Mine took a bit longer cause just as I was about to walk out I turned back and confirmed that I can use it to shop online and she said no...I have to have it activated. See..when she asked me if she can activate any new services for me I did not know online shopping is included. I thought it was standard. So then she had to go back in and activate SMS notifications (seems this is mandatory for security reasons with the online shopping thing)
They then send you a 10 digit code via SMS and then after 24 - 73 hours you must go to a website and create you secure code which you then use to shop online with your card.
I tried it now...but did not accept my identity verification details. Phoned the Capitec help line and she said I must try tomorrow and if it does not work tomorrw...the day after. Reason why it takes a bit of time is because our details needs to filter through to MasterCard.
