Filled up at Caltex again today and card got declined again. They attendant fetched the machine from inside the shop and that one worked. The unit from the forecourt was from ABSA and the working one from inside the shop was from Nedbank. He actually mentioned that they have more problems with the ABSA units than the Nedbank one.

I bought ciggies and a pie today on my way home at Caltex...this is the same one that decined my card for petrol. Wanted to see if they fixed the problem yet. Nope...card again was declined. Asked them what bank machine they using. NEDBANK! A-Holes!!! I want to put in a complaint bout Nedbank with MasterCard...but cant find a email address for MasterCard. Their contact page on their website dont have any contact details.

I bought ciggies and a pie today on my way home at Caltex...this is the same one that decined my card for petrol. Wanted to see if they fixed the problem yet. Nope...card again was declined. Asked them what bank machine they using. NEDBANK! A-Holes!!! I want to put in a complaint bout Nedbank with MasterCard...but cant find a email address for MasterCard. Their contact page on their website dont have any contact details.

The day before I saw the attendant using the nedbank unit, which worked, after the Absa unit declined my transaction.

Did not give a slip....just said declined on the machine.

If the machine shows declined, you should see the option "print" on the screen? ... I always print out the declined slips with our BLABSA swipe machine to prove to clients that the transaction did not go though or to follow up with the bank regarding the unknown error code.

I will try again tomorrow and get a slip.

Got my card yesterday. Tried to link it to my Paypal account but:

"This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card."

Phoned customer care and they said I must wait a few days.

We managed to link my son's card to his paypal but it won't verify? :erm:

Any ideas.

mine did this with absa cc , absa blocked it because they though it was fraud o.0

so i had to phone them to unlock it .

could be because your card is not activated for online use or blocked.

Just managed to get SecureCode for both accounts. Also managed to verify my son's card on paypal.

But mine is still blocked. Will have to give Capitec a ring tomorrow to unblock.

EDIT: I figured out why mine was being blocked. I did not have enough funds in the account (only the prescribed R25) and when adding a card to paypal they make a refundable charge to the card.

After I added some funds the linking and confirming of the card went through immediately.

Been to PnP yesterday to purchase a few items. While I was paying I thought I'd withdraw some cash as well only to be told that I cannot withdraw cash from their tills any longer. Apparently this change went into effect last week already. Anyone from Capitec that can give me an explanation.

I think they are talking BS. I did draw money yesterday from PnP using Capitec card without any problems. Had to pay my maid today.

I have to say I wasn't happy when the cashier told me that yesterday. But because I was in a rush, I didn't question it further. I'll stop at a PnP later and check it out again.

Ok, been to another PnP store and withdrew money there without any problems. Maybe the cashier at the other store must've been smoking something. But went to KFC and card got declined and they're using FNB speedpoints. Tried at three different units and got declined at all three.

Filled up @ Shell today and they use Nedbank machines too...same as the Caltex around the corner that keeps on declining my card. Went through no problem. I dont understand it.

Maybe you might just want to double check that the machine they're using at the Caltex forecourt is in actual fact one from Absa and not one from Nedbank. I too filled up today at Caltex and was declined at the Absa machine but the transaction went through on the Nedbank unit. The owner of the garage took my Absa declined slip and logged a fault with them. He said he'll contact if he had any news from Absa.

Yep, that declined slip contains more than enough info so that ABSA etc can get on fixing the problem.
