Capitec outage

Don't know why Capitec put all their eggs in one basket... there's no fallback or failover redundancy to other servers...

Highly doubt they don't have redundancy in place.

SARB and SABRIC (and I think PASA) requires any party with a banking license to have redundancy in place and to provide them with certificate of testing.

Other than financial/income loss, reputational damage, they'll have to please & explain to those parties, as well as potentially pay a nifty fine.

/stares at my vmcc and smiles at you peasants putting all your eggs in one basket.

Yip, quite happy with the VM and Capitec combo. It's highly unlikely that both Capitec and Absa (which runs VM transactions) go down at the same time.

Wasn't me :D

I'm seriously thinking of getting an FNB account just for backup purposes...

Thats the exact reason why I have a Capitec account. As a backup when my FNB cards dont work :P

Not to derail, but I believe there is also a R5 FNB account that they have to compete with the capitec R5 account.
