Capitec people, help me out here.

Ideally you should plan to have money saved for those OMG moments. Going on credit in emergencies is where the trouble starts for most people.

I do have a little nest egg saved up. But I want the Credit Card...just in case. Whenever I do swipe it I put the money back end of that same month anywayz. I just gives me a bit of peace of mind.

One thing I love about Capitec is no shocker fees especially when using other ATMs - ironic that its cheaper to draw R1000 cash at a Standard Bank ATM with my Capitec card than using my Standard Bank savings account.

I just checked now and see that Capitec have raised the amount they charge for cheque deposit. It was cheaper to deposit a cheque @ R4.00 a pop. Now it is costing R15.00. For R2000.00 cheque it now works out about the same as depositing cash in the branch. BUT....I see that it works out cheaper by half if you deposit cash at their ATM.

Have any of you done this? I have not and dont know how????

The ATM at Tygervalley centre has an deposit opening - you just throw your notes in, and it counts it for you, you verify the amount, and it's deposited.
No envelopes, no slips, no irritating beep, beep, beep!

Wow...thats great! I asked the one lady that works with me if she ever deposited money at a ATM and she said once and never again. She lost money when she did. This was with ABSA though and the envalope system.

I am aware and have the MasterCard Debit Card already. I want a credit card for those "OMG what am I gonna do now?" moments where you need access to funds for a emergency.

You're looking for trouble.

nah....have had a credit card for many many years now and in general have manged it very well. Virgin even increased my limit again because of it. Wont be using that though :-)

Well if you can manage it (ie settle in full before interest gets charged etc) then you should be ok. Some people with the credit cards scare the living crap out of me.

i got a new Capitec Debit card that allows online purchasing
i completed the Securecode setup part

now, when i try to set up my Paypal account, it says that my bank declined the request
contacted Paypal, they say its not their fault-have to contact Capitec & ask them to sort it out.

anyways, what i want to know is this:
im going to sell something to a person in the US

he will pay me via PayPal in US$
can i use those US$ now & buy something from Amazon.com?

Yes if you receive funds, it will go into your PayPal wallet and if you use PayPal for purchases, the amount well be deducted from your wallet.
