Capitec starts Sunday banking

ABSA has been doing this in Menlyn for a while (I am not an ABSA client). Do not think I will ever stick my neck out and move to Capitec.

That is branch dependent - some of the other banks also have branches with extended trading hours.

This is branch independent, and will apply to all branches.

Good on you, hope the other banks follow soon..

Not only in Menlyn but in Bellville (Tygervalley Mall for many years now).
I'm not an ABSA client either.

I made the move to Capitec and it's way better than the other major banks when it comes to banking fees.

i wonder if the other banks will ever try something like this ... after all this would mean improved
customer service!!!

They can start by opening until 5-6 pm every weekday. It's ridiculous that so many of them are only open until 3pm.

.
Yup. I am very happy with them. For the skeptical people, please stay with your bank :D We don't want you at ours :p

wow...this is interesting. been with all the banks and seriously, they all lacking in service! I hardly hear from my bank managers for the last 2 years.

with all the other channels why do you need to go to a branch on a Sunday? Rather Sat 9-5 would surely suit those who are unable to get there during the week?

It might be service differentiation but I doubt it can be called improved Service. Just a convenience that will add to costs..and who pays?..yip thats right all you capitec customers

Moved to capitec a few month back and really happy that i did. As far as bank cost they beat the big banks by a mile not to mention the interest rates they offer. Really happy with them being open on a Sunday as long as it does not result in exorbitant bank increases.

Is it really going to make that much of a difference having the bank open on a Sunday???

I never go into a branch in any case, so it doesn't make a difference to me...

When will this happen?

The new hours started last Sunday at 84 of its 460 branches located in or around shopping centres. Capitec said it aligned its trading hours to those of retailers and restaurants to offer clients more flexibility.

He said that Sunday trading would be extended beyond the current 84 branches in due course. To date, 100 new jobs have been created.

Ran a workshop a couple of weeks ago and a few of the delegates were from ABSA, they said that ABSA is viewing Capitec as a serious threat.
