Hey

Is anybody offering capped openserve data accounts without a line at the moment?

Thanks

A quick search on my end only indicated that RSAweb still provides capped ADSL (aka Openserve) accounts.

Please note that if you're going to use along with Openserve fibre, it might be speed limited to 40mb.

I have tried signing up there, but after entering my details, the only product available for selection is:

"Wireless 3G & LTE Mobile Broadband. Ideal for home and business use"

I know infogro also sells capped dsl data but they are also limited to 40Mbps.

Then Webafrica sells capped dsl bundles and they are not speed limited.

I also tried Webafrica. They have a section that lists capped adsl pricing, but the check availability option takes you to uncapped bundled pricing.

Yeah it does that. They are likely trying to avoid DSL signups for people that have fibre ect. Just use a random address that has adsl coverage only and it should work.

Thanks so much! That worked!

Anyone using infogro capped data, how relaibe are they. The data packages pricing looks good... R99 for 100gb (bundleup), so you receive 200gb.

if you have a 10Mbs Openserve fibre line, what speed will you get with a capped data package from afrihost? 10 Mbps?

On capped packages from Afrihost we do not limit the speeds. Usually capped packages run at the speed of the line which it is being used on so if you have a 200Mbps line then it will run at that speed but I know some ISPs limit the speed to a max of 40Mbps on ADSL capped accounts.

@AfriNatic

Is the fibre speed set on

1. the open serve logon account

or

2. the fibre line/circuit

It can be set on both and the speeds will be determined by whichever one is the lowest.

You can have an account set at 10Mbps with a line at 200Mbps and the speeds will be 10Mbps. You can have an account with no speed limit and the circuit is 10Mbps which means you get 10Mbps.

Openserve fibre ONLY have the following circuit speeds for ADSL/VDSL and Fibre

Old ADSL/VDSL Copper Connect (This is the service you require a Telkom line rental for) :
1Mbps
2Mbps
4Mbps
8Mbps
10Mbps
20Mbps (ADSL or VDSL2)
40Mbps (ADSL or VDSL2)

Pure Connect (Naked DSL)
4Mbps
10Mbps
20Mbps (ADSL or VDSL2)
40Mbps (ADSL or VDSL2)

Openserve Fibre Connect:
10Mbps
20Mbps
50Mbps
100Mbps
200Mbps
