Ok, so let's start putting the pieces of this cap puzzle together.

Piece 1
Two emails from Telkom:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=29617
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=29629
basically talk about that they are going to implement something, but they haven't decided what, how or when.

Piece 2
The only ISPs that are posting "advertising" new prices are ones promoting (reselling) IS (eg. WA, OpenWeb, etc). Even these are changing daily and have not yet formally (except Openweb) been advertised officially.

Piece 3
None of the ISPs reselling SAIX (a) have either mentioned a word (eg. Axxess) or (b) seem to have clue themselves as to what's is going on with the SAIX accounts (Axxess and the rest).

So?
So what is happening here, from the POV of 1 November and SAIX based accounts.
The answer: Simply NOTHING.

How So?
People are jumping the gun, and IS is reaping the rewards of confusion.
The hard capping rumour has been around for a few months now, so what does IS do? (or possibly some enterprising ISPs or both). They start talking, put a few packages together and try to gain some market share. Simple!

What Now?
Sit tight. Yes, Telkom is going to change the rules. But let's wait to see what they are. Stick with your ISP if you are happy. And once all the facts are available make a plan.

It is useless complaining to Telkom or ISCSA at this stage, why? Because we have nothing to complain about (as far as hard capping and pay per gig go).

The end.

I think complaining about the fact that a 10GB account will be around R550 and a 30GB around R2,000 is worth complaining about.. no?

possibly has another piece of the puzzle.

WebAfrica resell SAIX, error number 1.

Guys who have updated their packages, and who also resell SAIX: WebAfrica, Imaginet, Mweb and the list goes on.

Hardcapping rumour? If you say so. :)

See you November.

One way of getting rid of this confusion is to make a press release saying what is happening. I do not see telkom or any of the saix ISP's telling their customers what is really happening. So IS is not reaping the rewards they are being competitive.

@Sig_SA

Start reading between the lines, The only thing that could have happened is because we jumped the gun, because we are against the under-handedness TELKOM use to do things, we made the boat rock. Now suddenly TELKOM may be backtracking, but given the experience of the last 15 Years I doubt. I then can only believe that for once Telkom fell out of the rocking boat, but I for one do not believe it. Their underhand methods will surprise us once again unless Icasa caught the drowning scum and sorted them.

For one, do you think the ISP's will opt for legislation and the accompanying costs if it was a rumor??
Do You think ISP's that sold Saix, WA for one I have a 30G account with, will do it for fun, whats the reason ?

C'mon!

I was quoting Sig_ZA how so? statement. Do yourself a favour and read it. As to me i am just waiting for axxess to say what their new pricing structure will look like then i am moving from SAIX to IS

No issue, just advise I did the same many a time Hehe

Just look at the procedure Telkom has used when announcing previous price & plan changes. They have given users plenty of warning and the changes rumored for nov1st are more serious than simply decreasing prices so I dont believe anything major will happen 1st november to adsl users...
I'll wait for official anouncement from telkom not something i have to find on a forum that MANY users dont even know about.

The most I think may happen is that accounts over 3gb are forced to go back to 3gb or pay more but even that should entail end users being given ample notice.

I'm with axxess and telkomsa and neither have sent anything to me so best just to wait and see.
