Yeah I'm not sure what's up with that DLF maximum crap. Maybe they get paid extra for promoting the sponsor.

I'm pretty sure that they're contractually obligated to find-and-replace six with "DLF Maximum!!11!", and wickets with "Citi Moment of Success!!!11!".

Bloody stupid, if you ask me.

Well dj i am sure you more than anyone else understand the advertising aspect of the game so get used to it or turn the sound off, considering the amount of amazing cricket this league has brought who cares what they say when a wicket or boundary happens. Advertising means money.

My word this thread proves people will moan about everything and anything. I like pommy and personally think he is very good. In fact there are not many poor commentators just picky spectators.

Understanding it doesn't mean I automatically appreciate it. Still pisses me off.

What is it about Pommy that you like? The fact that he feels the need to repeat every word 16 times when he gets excited or that he shouts everything in what comes across in an over-the-top, trying-too-hard, fake manner?

What makes his accent fake?

He's been living in SA for a while now AFAIK and wouldn't be surprised if he's also spent some time in the UK.

At least Pom isn't dead like Kepler "Coma" Wessels.

Anyone can hear it's an acquired accent. I hate it. He is a poor commentator.

I'm with you on this!!
Nothing wrong with Pommy. Some people just need to moan about things. You cant have it all your way. The day you are happy with all the commentators, someone else will be moaning.

Imagine if we had that local guy from radio 2000 commentating on live TV, now that would be hectic!

Sure he can't bat, but have a look at who dismissed him.

0 b Wasim Akram
2 b Wasim Akram
0 b K R Pushpakumara
4 b M Muralitharan
0 b C L Cairns
0 b C L Cairns
3 b Wasim Akram
0 b J Srinath
2 b Saqlain Mushtaq
3 b P R Adams
0 b C E L Ambrose

What are you saying? One of the hazards of playing int'l cricket is facing int'l-quality bowlers, of which not all the names on that list qualify. :)

Wasim clearly had his number.

I'm just wondering what his poor batting has to do with anything. Whenever he came in, the opposition had their best bowlers on to mop up the tail, probably with very attacking fields. It's not like he batted when the parttime bowlers were on.

Oh yes, Waqar Younis got him out too.

Edit: At least his test bowling wasn't too bad. But his ODI average is shocking.

I understand that he was in the team for his bowling rather than his batting, and I get your point about attacking bowlers mopping up the tail.

The point is that cricinfo have adjudged him to have been the worst test batsman of all time. We are not talking Makhaya Ntini-class batting, or even Chris Martin-class. This is a whole new level.

I'm just saying that next time you hear Pommy screaming DLF MAXIMUM!!!111! you should remember that this guy may be unsure of which side of the bat faces forwards.

I hate his commentary because he is obvious and shouty. I just think it is amusing that we have the worst test batsman ever to tell us what is going on in the middle.

He is in the league of Alan Donald- the only South African to own the record for the most ducks in a row XD.

But honestly am I the only one who do not find his commentating bad or irritating at all? I mean sure he is obvious but heh, that is kinda the commentators job to comment on what has been done.
