Car batteries - cost ??

right, it would appear the problem is more than just battery.

voltage this morning was 11.2v
voltage now is 10.6v

something is sucking power

Take off one terminal and measure the voltage. If it reads below 12v it is farked.

so my one car has a dead battery (dead cell), called the stealership - R2800 - R3400, oi vey.

would a normal battery supplier - about R2200 (or so)

what is it that makes car batteries so expensive ?

but question is - on a car that is like an electronics factory, would it be best to let the stealership sort this out (motorplan - or what ever it is called does not cover batteries & tyres) ?

Grantza, give Vonde batteries in Maitland a ring - I replaced my V8RR's battery for ~R1600 a few weeks ago. That was for a 110Ah 800CCA unit, which should be the same.

Common problem in the rr/discos. fortunately you dont have to be raped by the stealers. If you are that far gone you will probable have to replace the alternator+battery.

I did my alternator at the same time. Was quoted Rk17.5 excl, plus Rk2 if I didn't exchange the old unit. Which tells you you're getting a rebuilt part at that!

Found a non OEM new replacement for Rk5. It's a 150A water cooled unit.
