Car battery - does the brand matter

True, if the dealership has to do any labour to assist, it is fair for them to charge.

When replacing a battery without supplying alternative power. More often when the battery is dead flat or disconnected over a period of time.
 
Went to the Willard shop. They recommended and fit a Varta Blue.

Should be sorted for a good couple of years.
 
any reputable brand will do. exide, willard etc etc... just make sure its the right spec/size and if its agm. most battery places can even keep the current in your car live while charging it should electronics lose memory

The Willard guys just had me run the motor while they changed the battery. No power loss and easy peasy.

Also had a Varta fitted at a Willard store. Was told if the battery goes faulty even on the last day of the 2yr warranty they will replace it with another Varta and still offer another full 2yr warranty on the replacement.
 
Just get one you can top up etc yourself.. if looked after will keep you a while
 
Varta is great. Had an oem in golf 6 a few years ago that died but after charging it worked for another couple of years. Also replaced a varta in a 330d last year, the battery was purchased in 2009 or 2011 according to date engraved on the casing, so not a bad run at all.

That said I have also had decent service from duratec batteries, available from naskar in pta

The Masterparts house brand batteries are cheap and excellent quality, I’ve used 2 on different vehicles and both worked flawlessly. They also look good, they don’t look cheap.
 
I advised my sister to replace her battery with either a Varta or Enertec as I always do with my tjors, but she opted for a cheaper Willard (Midas). Now the Willard gave in after 6 months and she lost the receipt :-(
