Car Disk Fine during Grace Period

Yup and people still get temporary licenses when they renew cause they don't know of this three months.
 
I need to renew my license disk but did not receive anything in the mail. What can I do?

Just go to the post office with id, certified copy of ID, proof of address and ask for a renewal form

Same story. You just need to fill your personal info and the registration number in on the vehicle section of renewal form, they'll populate the rest from that
 
The post office told me earlier in the year you don't need proof of residence unless you're changing address.
 
They're incorrect. Any transaction with natis requires proof of address since about 2014.

Well I never supplied it either times at different post offices and I've got my discs. I do have a copy with me if needed though.
 
So 2 years ago I forgot about the renewal. My wife was pulled over and issued an on the spot fine for expired disk. I looked for the notice for months afterwards online. Never saw it so of course didn't pay. I thought it would possibly appear when I went to renew the disc. Not so. 2 years and 2 renewals later, she has just found out that she can't renew her drivers as there is an outstanding warrant.
I phoned the court (Atlantis) and along the lines of WTF?! they explained that:
-The summons was on the fine issued to her on the spot, hence why it was not delivered.
-Despite the fact that the car is in my name and I am responsible for renewals, it was issued against her ID and thus she is liable. The fine I searched and eventually found under her name stated that she was the owner of the vehicle.
-As it was in her name, I would not have seen it even when searching for it.
So they are witholding her drivers until payment. Having recently been smashed into by a drunk taxi driver with LITERALLY NO F%$@%ing license or insurance, do you think they issued a warrant for that D@@S?!
Any lawyers care to weigh in on the extortion? Sick of being the cash cow and easy target.

Makes sense. If you get fined on the spot, your're screwed.
 
Just save yourself the trouble and pay, if it makes you feel better you aren't the only cash cow around, we are all a bunch of cash cows.

This ^^ as frustrating as it is should not be used in any way to support the morality your argument.

Just pay the fine and move on. The cost and headache of fighting is not worth your sanity.
 
I've renewed my license disk online for the past 5+ years and the last two years they've been very late to deliver even when I paid it before it expired and therefore the grace period was way beyond already.

Simply put the email confirmation in my glove box and the one time my wife got pulled over and showed that to the copper and told him that his own people are failing the system not us.

Apparently had a bit of a chuckle and then let her go without any drama.

Never ever volunteer to pay the money, this is exactly why they write the fine in the first place knowing they are in the wrong.

Half the time if you ignore it they find the error in their own ways and it never goes any further.

But there are always some people who "just pay" and that's when the terrorists win.

My bad I see that reply referred to another post where the person was actually in the wrong and the fine was issued on the spot and so a real time summons.

ONLY reason I advised him to pay, was because the drivers licence renewal was being withheld. Otherwise, your advise rings true. I never ever ever pay fines. They can get ****ed.
