Car got stolen, need to replace it! Suggestions please

Hey everyone,

my old Honda Ballade 1995 was stolen about 2 weeks ago. Been searching for cars, I found a new Honda Ballade 2014 that I really wanted, put in finance was going to buy it this morning then when I phone the dealer they said it was sold off -_- Almost punched them over the phone... Anyways

I'm a guy in my mid 20s, with a maximum budget of R150 000. Please can you guys give me suggestions?

I've been looking for Mazda3 Hatch, but they seem quite rare. I'm not too much a fan of VW as they are notorious for getting stolen and a bit overpriced for me? What are your thoughts on the renault megane (I think its a coupe)? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I drive a 2014 Hyundai Accent 1.6 (the sedan) - and must admit I like the car more every year.
Very reliable and economical (if you keep your right foot calm). I drive like a villain in a Fast & Furious movie and get a fairly decent 8.9 per 100km's.
Another option is a KIA Rio hatch or the Accent hatch. Services and running costs are quite low and no pesky turbos to spoil your budget.
Also look at the Toyota range - they pulled up their socks quite a bit the last few years.

Have joked about this at work yesterday and someone made a good point.
If you can get a Kuga with a certified repair, you might pull off a great buy (though you will have to keep the car for quite a while).
 
I have a 2006 ,1.5 vtec,automatic, Honda Jazz for Sale if you're interested. Asking R70k

Lovely and claustrophobic :(

If you can deal with the smallness of it and the crap warranty etc. it's not bad. Although I reckon they are going to age very badly in terms of looks.
 
Honda Jazz! Chevron would approve.

I had the same Ballade as you, or it could have been a '96 model. Lovely cars. Sorry that it has been lifted from you. Good luck with your search!

Considered the Hyundai i30?

Came here to say this, however Im not sure that I will ever fully trust the car. Also, how does the current Ford situation affect insurance?

+1 for ford kuga 1.6t ecoboost!

Otherwise go for honda accord, great cars and they last forever!

We were discussing this as well and reckon that if you maintain it properly and check under the hood regularly a Kuga shouldn't be a problem buy.

Well if you have Ford sign off on the repairs (*laughs*), get a company like Dekra to certify the car and have your insurance sign off one the car (*rolls eyes*) - your premiums 'should' be competitive...

But as the oke at work also said - just get 3rd party, since no sane thief will want to take your Kuga!
 
Just thought about the Renault Clio too...
Not a bad car that. Don't like the turbo much though...

From a trustworthy Honda to a Renault is a giant leap of faith, it might not be a happy ending, rather stick with Honda, many options on your budget, even if you decide on a different stay with the Japanese.
