Car Insurance

@cbrunsdonza....OK my vehicle is a 2008 Ford Ikon 1.4i Ambiente and it is insured for R70 000 and I'm paying R502pm and I thought this was cheap.
PM your insurer's details, thanks.

Thanks for all the advise, finally went with IT Insurance brokers, anyone heard of them? Any good?
Got a quote from Santam for about 1100 and 2500 excess, with car hire!!

Best deal so far!! :D

Pro-tip: always ad the section that covers locks and keys to you policy. Only costs like R3 and covers your car keys and if you need to change locks. With car keys costing as much as R8000 these days its waaaayyy worth it.

Get a broker. I work with 2 brokers already (We do their online stuff), one based in Bloem (health insurance) and one in Jozi (general insurance broker), with staff not 1 man amateur-ish stuff, and as everyone said, brokers FTW. They can get super great prices for you, sometimes up to 20% off standard premiums. So have a look around or visit these guys if you want. Just PM me if you interested and will give you more referral details and they might give you a super good deal just from my referral alone. All the best

OK so I got my car back from the panel shop, all seem to be OK however my smash and grab tint on the left rear door window got some nasty scratches which I pointed out to the panel shop rep, he then took some pics and promise to get back to me....well he called earlier today telling me that my insurance company approved the repair/replacement of the tint....my question why must my insurance company pay, surely it was their people who damaged the tint.
Your advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I'm also going to have to do this soon - that is, look for insurance for my car that I will hopefully be getting soon.

Update on smash and grab damage:
The panel shop will now pay for the smash and grab and I must take my vehicle to PG Glass on Tuesday.:)

I use a broker and is insured through Mutual & Federal, been with them a long time and nobody can beat their quote by a longshot so I recommend you go to local brokers in your town and see what they can get you, Outsurance and all those budget insurers who cut out the middle man is just trouble and too much hassle, I'd rather pay that R100 extra a month and they are there for you when you need them..

To date we haven't found anybody cheaper and they let you decide which panel beaters you want to use.

We have been using them for the last 7 years and not a single issue on claims..

BTW, My broker is Nicky Greyling:whistle:

I took out motor insurance though Nedbank as I have a merchant account with them. It's underwritten by Mutual & Federal and claims and other admin happen though a company called Brolink.

I'm paying roughly 430p/m on my VW Golf GSX (insured value 38k). Excess is R1500 and windscreen R300. After I provided them with two quotes (at any panel beater of my choice) they sent a loss adjuster on the same day I submitted my forms, the vehicle was approved for repair within 48 hours of the accident.

I see I could have opted for car hire for an extra R18p/m.
