Car Sound Help xD

You plan to use one of the cheapest, crappiest head units around with a premium split system.
Not much point having very good quality speakers if they are being powered by junk :)
Yeah it will sound better then if you were to use a Dixon split system but still not as good as they should be.

What do you have in your car at the moment? no factory fitted audio? that will probably be better than Dixon.

R1400!

crazy, you can get a cheaper 6*9 combo or something with an amp for that price, and yes, you will need an amp of some sort if you intend using that deck

haha i bought the car from some granny who bought the car without the optional headunit lol, its a corsa light
any recommendations on a headunit then? was only gonna use it cause its brand new sitting in cupboard given to me haha
i had some ground zero 6.5 inch components with a JL w0v3 in old city golf ( gave car and sound to brother) would these kickers sound decently better? Like i have no way of knowing until i listen to them xD
The car has nothing in it not even an antenna haha

You had some decent equiptment before so that dixon thingy definitely needs to go.
Can't comment on whether or not Kicker would be better than Ground Zero but I know kicker is really good and have only heard about Ground Zero being decent.

For head units, I've always loved Alpine and Kenwood.
If you want something with Bluetooth, you would be looking at R2k+ for something decent.

You can get away without Bluetooth though and get something that has Android Music capabilities.
You then plug your phone into a USB port and then can control music from your phone through the head unit.
Kenwood KDC-U263R sells for about R1000 and has that.

@Milkinator No one asked, so I will. Do you have a budget?

Id like to spend 2k on front door speakers and headunit ( if that dixon rubbish is insufficient)
I dont know what makes head untis different? this whole car audio business if so difficult to get right if u ask me, no variables to look for which indicate quality etc theres always different things

yeah with a 2k budget the guy can go for splits, EQ, capacitors, extra battery, double din unit and a few subs

He never mentioned a budget before your post :crylaugh: Nice try

And even if he did, splits > 6x9. It allows you to build better staging if you do decide to add on to it...

edit: oh i see you said can control through the radio

and he was going to run that splits off the dixon head unit, yeah expert advice there, will sound amazing for that price

6x9's and an amp are definitely a good idea at that price point. Don't bother with a sub with such a crappy head unit. Dixon... WTF???

Not sure why everyone is trying to turn his car into the loudest thing on earth with such a limited budget...

Do you have an amp to drive the splits?

Here is my thoughts and many will disagree, but I am still going to give my 2c.

Use the Dixon head unit and buy those kicker splits. It's better than having nothing in your car.
Buy a 4 gauge cabling kit, decent one.
Buy a decent 4channel amplifier. Install amp and wire kicker splits to amp.
Buy a decent head unit and replace the Dixon.
Buy the sub you want with a box and connect to amp.

This can be done as you have money for the components. If you can, give an amount you want to spend on each and we will post, what we think, the best component is you can get for that amount.

So what then? Run crap speakers off a crap head unit, and then if you want something better in future then you need to get rid of 2 things instead of 1? Yeah expert advice indeed...

he didn't say anything about the future now did he? you just made that up all by yourself, and you forget I mentioned that he could buy an amp to run the 6*9s, so he can just fit cheaper splits infront if he wanted too

all within that R1500 budget for that splits in the link
