carpal tunnel

right an update for those who thought I was taking the piss out of them. My right hand is still pain free since the shock 2 weeks ago!

I am not a doctor and what I am about to write is mere speculation. With ECT there is a release of BDNF (brain derived neurotrophic factor) the function of which is to help repair damaged nerve tissue. It may be that the electric shock resulted in a release of BDNF in your peripheral nerves which helped repair the damaged nerves.

me neither but I'm pretty damn glad it happened cause I sleep the whole night through without pain killers and the hand functions normally although I still get minor numb fingers occasionally.

Having issues myself and was wondering if other people have recently experienced the pain from carpal tunnel and what treatments they undertook to get some relief?

Cortisone injection, then I wore a wrist brace for a few months - first all the time, then only at night

anti-inflammatories (dicloflam)

finally pain free without surgery

I started with a hand specialist OT in Ferndale - can highly recommend her - she refers to a specialist upper limb surgeon if needed for the injections

I wouldn't go to GP for the shots - they are SORE and they need to be in the right place - don't take the chance wioth someone who will maybe do one a month if that

Appreciate the feedback, i made an appointment with an occupational therapist for Friday (who also specializes in hand therapy) - wasn't sure if that was the right approach. But your feedback has confirmed this as a good starting point.
