This is actually done, but a-la Afrika style:
Investigate under pressure from the public
Find the guilty parties and somebody else to finger
Pay the gulty a few million in bonuses and disgrace the person set up to be fingered
Give somebody else the chance to make a few million
Comfortable gravy train.

Another story inside this story worthwhile investigating is how BEE is exploited to actually victimize those it was supposed to have helped. Screwed the ex-contractors delivering coal and making people not qualified to become contractors, it. Abused them to to deliver coal, forcing them into bankruptcy in the process to make the Eskom bottom line better and reduce the costs. At the end of this insult to everything South Africa could have become are all those small people, black, white or whatever colour, suffering at the hands of Eskom's seriously dysfunctional policies. Now they want to close the mines down and lose even more jobs. WTF????

This is one of South Africa's darkest hours, pun intended.

There is a total of 5000MW that could be sold to Eskom, but the problem is that Eskom only want to pay 50% of what they charge us for the power. So it is not viable for the the other producers to sell to Eskom, as it costs more to generate than a coal power plant.

It sounds like Eskom want to dictate price, but doesn't have any real choice IMO.

If you are correct ( and I have no reason to doubt you ) this could be of critical importance to alleviating the problems. Are they doing anything in this regard? Or are they just sticking their heads deeper in the sand?

But - as was said in the programme - it rains every year and 'wet coal' has never been an issue? If it was, surely they'd cover the stock pile?
