We always wonder what Malema is on about when he says that the revolution is not over. The fact is that the revolution will only be over when all positions of value in government (local or national) has been handed to incompetent political tools, all infrastructure created by the apartheid Government has been destroyed and Zimmers move back to their country as SA is the same.

In africa incompetence knows no boundaries and things are always worse than it seems.
 
How could our water become so bad I haven't been to Hartie's in months and I couldn't believe what the water looks like

My power was off this morning, from 3am until after 6:30 when I left for work. Might not be happening to you, but is happening nonetheless. Had some blackouts during last week in the day as well.

Our water is very important in a country like ours, and the blatant mismanagement of that resource should be a case of high treason.
 
I couldn't believe when Bongani went to the plant in Witbank. Middle of the day and the place was completely deserted and a total mess. What the hell?!

The thing that gets to me is how these officials always go on about budgets and how much we're short on fixing the problem. If the money was allocated properly instead of funding fat lunches and going into back pockets, I doubt there would be much to worry about.

I would say you have to take ANY story with a pinch of salt. Carte Blanch work off people's ignorance, speculation and editing.

I am not denying there is a problem, in fact I am convinced there is a problem - however there is time to resolve that problem, and I always get the impression that our government sees these criticisms as an attack on them and not the problem.

I fail to see your point - either there is a crisis or there isn't.

The media were correct and because of that coal stockpiles were sorted out. And the negative press associated with power failures meant that Eskom had to negotiate with large consumers.

You are so right - less on big cars, more on maintenance please.

Oh, and screw giving the crony a chance. It needs to be fixed properly. Because if there is no water the crony guy will be just as dead as the guy who knows how to do it.

I am involved with a company that supplies pumps and associated equipment into the treatment works and Rand water.
Been involved within the pumping game for 20 years and visiting the various plants I can tell you we are in for big trouble.
Lack of maintenance, money allocated for upgrades and improvements are systematically siphoned away. Infrastructure collapsing at an alarming rate.

One company still producing relatively good drinking water is Rand water.
Although their plants are ageing with minimal maintenance they have managed to keep a reasonable level of service. But time is running out.

I would suggest u get yourself good water purifier attached to your house.
Rather now than later.
 
I have been reading about water warnings in articles allover the place since 2001.
This has gone around and around and around, but the articles are getting worse.

The fact that there is a water problem at Knysna, with nobody to blame, and everyone still getting paid for doing nothing should open the eyes.

But, humans are like that. Ignore it. It will go away.

The press were spot on with Eiskom and the poor state that they're in.

Coal supplies were contracted out to unreliable BEE operators causing many units to shut down with low coal bunker levels due to the mismanagement of the coal supplies (not rain).

Eiskom are still operating with a power grid that is very vulnerable because they don't have reserve capacity due to lack of expansion, and this is also having a negative impact on industrial development and general growth.

They need a major increase in generating capacity, but only have one power station under construction (Medupi), and have not made any deals to build more to meet the current demand and projected growth.

Isn't it time for Carte Blance to take on the banking cartels or Telkom/Vodacom/Iburst/Sentech cartel ?

They never go after corporations only after goverment departments, something people can't really do anything about.

But when it comes to companies: people could boycott them and force them to think about changing their policies. Like the way the media exposed the apple computer manufacturers who exploited workers in asia.

Telkom have been featured on Carte Blanche a long time ago. They even had an interview with Mad from Hellkom.

The government do have majority share in Telkom, and iirc, Carte Blanche spoke to DG of telecoms and she started talking about floods :D I think the video might even be on youtube.
 
Studies have been done on the upgrading of 12 of the power stations (finished by Nov last year if i recall correctly, rather a busy time), they just need to wake up and get the ball rolling.

p.s. there was plenty plenty coal at the 2 sites i visited

Stoke - you can live without electricity but you are not going more that 3 days without water.
 
yet another story on how us tax payers are getting shafted. so SAA are giving it to us good.
