Cash deposit charges

I've never heard of anyone being charged for debit orders (except when they bounce due to insufficient funds or something similar)

A debit order going off on my Capitec account costs R3,50 I think. Debit orders on a Standard Bank pay as you go account also attracts a fee.

If you have one of those fixed price accounts, you are paying for them, its just not transparent to you (or else you are one of those "no debit orders ever" people.

Try this. FNB has time and again allowed ******* people to deposit R10 in my account by going in bank. R10 in, R38 service charge. Surely you get a bloody brain and tell the person they can't do that and must deposit a minimum of R50.

Shouted at the bank manager so much he gave me money out of his own wallet to compensate me. *******s run banks!

Hmm...
My enemies better not bank at FNB .
Go in every hour and deposit R10. Do that for 5 days. Your Cost (assuming a 7 hour day) R350. Their cost: R980.

The banks do overcharge for cash deposits. Most MyBB members were against governmwnt plans to reduce fees though.

As for suppliers not accepting cash deposits, a car dealer tried that once. I called him up and offered to drop the cash on his desk, since he'd need to accept that. He quickly agreed to the cash deposit.

you must be seriously bored or really angry with them.

I hate TV license.. I go quite often to the bank for work, so it only takes a few extra minutes of my time :D

I'm with FNB and I get charged R16.75 per debit order on one of my business accounts.

Laid a complaint and got a phone call saying they are looking to the policies and procedures for their deposit charges etc.

I think I struck a nerve when I told the bank manager I have found his banking details and will be depositing R50 000 into his account R1 at a time which would amount to R2 million in charges for him :D

Why don't you do R500 in 1c deposits? I would join you if I had my manager's details!

They were against government interfering with banks. That which the government touches turns into dust.

1. real criminals don't rob a bank; they open their own bank!

2. For example in Germany it's ILLEGAL for a bank to charge for cash withdrawals and deposits!
Why is this kind of daylight robbery condoned here in South Africa?

They should make it so that the person who does the depositing pays that ridiculous deposit fee upfront or completely get rid of it.

Not all banks are like that. I pay a flat R400 fee a month either everything being free except for cash deposits which is 0.25%. The monthly fee also includes services like shares and overseas bank accounts.

So you would have paid R100 on that R40 000 cash deposit. So yes, all banks are like that.

I have probably made 4 cash deposits in the last 15 years. Even if it was 5% I wouldn't give a ****.

The OP should probably realise that its 2015 and electronic means should be preferred. He is probably the type who keeps cash under his bed or throws all savings into Krugerrands.

If i need to do a cash deposit i only pay 70c per r100 at capitec..... that is only r70 for r10 000... not much i say
