Does anyone know if downloading CCleaner worth it? Suppose to clean out all the "bad and unwanted stuff" from your PC/Lap!

I prefer a format and reinstall* or a 6-monthly startup files defrag using Tune XP.

I'm also looking into using a "Deep Freeze" kind of application to try and keep my PCs ... "clean".

CCleaner ( Crap Cleaner ) seems to have good reviews, so am going to give it a bash.

Been using CCleaner for a couple of years and it gets a big manly +1 from me :)

Back in '09 RegHardware ran articles for XP and Vista comparing 'optimizer' apps vs just getting more RAM in which they compared a bunch of these things, free and paid. Long story short, Ccleaner (the free version) is about the best one worth buying.

Also, the Ccleaner (et al) feature that turns out to be the most useful is less the registry cleaning or even the file clutter/detritus removal (which are nice to have and, when you're faced with an UTTERLY borked system that is drowning in its own crap, useful): it's having an easy way to being able to switch off autostart programs ..and switch them back on again if you find you got too carried away. :p

 on an XP box I'm down with MyDefrag, all the way; and was for a while on 7 boxen too, up until I did some digging and found it out. Furthermore, I don't know of a (properly, legally) free (that can be installed on a client PC) defragger that's better enough than the one built into 7 so I've just stopped worrying about it. Most PCs I work on are left on all the time anyway. /shrug

Try Eusing registry cleaner, not as bulky as ccleaner, and solved alot of problems with it.
