CCTV Camera System Recommendations?

I ordered some of the Wyze outdoor cams over the weekend from Geewiz. I am expecting delivery soon so I cant vouch for the just as yet, online has great reviews though. I have the same issues as you with the power, went for these as they don't have to be powered.

May fit your needs. I am also keen to see what others chime in on them here.
They are not what we would call cheap XD, please get back to us how they perform

Hi guys, I am looking for system for a farm, I don't have power plugs all over the place for the cameras so I would need to run POE system? 8 to 4 camera should be fine its for indoor and out door any suggestions?
HikVision may not have all the fanciest interfaces and mobile apps, but they are pretty much the industry standard.
Their cheaper brand, HiLook, seems to generally have ok reviews.

I would consider something like this if I were you:

Need some input here if someone has experience with some of the Hikvision cameras. Trying to decide between the normal analog 1080p varifocal (2.8-12mm) cameras and the 1080p colorVu cameras.?

The colorVu is a few hundred rand more but look like they may be worth it.... Thoughts?

I'm not a fan of analog camera's,at this point in time we really shouldn't be encouraging outdated tech but regardless of that the colorvu from the specs I've seen has a minimum lux rating of 0.001 which would make them the analog equivalent of a lower resolution starlight camera.

Starlight/colorvu offers far superior low light vision so definitely the better option.

Thanks. Just don't have the extra 12k to spend on 4mp IP cameras at this stage.

What are you getting at what price?
Firstly it's getting installed by someone else (they need to trench etc because the walls are far-ish from the house on both sides as we stay on a large corner property.

Well the difference is the analog 1080p cams (varifocals) VS 4mp ColorVu cameras (lets say 8 with a 16 channel NVR).

Ive been using cctv direct as reference for pricing.

QUOTE for 8 colourvu 4mp IP cams came to 41k but if I sub cctv direct pricing it's closer to 31k. Quote for 1080p analog installed comes to about R20k(also 16ch etc).

I love good analog, since they normally do what is required at an affordable price. What will a 22 camera IP system cost me? A heck of a lot more than 8 cam + DVR and 14 cam + DVR I'm sure. So if I went IP I would either have less coverage or dig out more money from somewhere.

Different strokes for different folks, but I think its mad to invest in analog in this day and age. You can get shitty IP NVR's for free and most can run on an old PC.

That's a bit heavy, an 8 cam reolink 5MP IP system should cost you well under R15k currently.

If you don't want to go DIY then maybe speak to viscon security about an IP system if you're in Gauteng, they will probably come in at the price you're getting crappy analogues (around R20k installed) and they keep Tiandy which is in the same category as Dahua/Hikvision i.e semi professional grade cams.

Last they did a system for my friend they charged like R350 per point for installation, granted trenching would cost a bit more but still can't be that bad!

One can get Dahua 4MP IP cameras with 30m IR for around R1600.
e.g. DH-IPC-HFW1431SP from WCCTV (I have no affiliation with the company).
If you want a 4MP vari-focal then around R2500 to R3000.

8 x 4MP vari-focal IP cameras should be about R20K without NVR. Or R12800 for 8 x 4MP fixed focus IP cameras.
Those are very expensive trenches being dug!

Any recommendations for a good installer to advise and install a camera system at my house in the Durbanville area? Someone up to date with new technology vs old, cost/benefit analyses of different systems, etc. Thanks.

DIY. Almost everyone I have spoken to is stuck in 19 voetsek.

How urgent is it? I can try and swing by

Analogue isn't CVBS anymore. It's all HD nowadays. More than sufficient for home use. Much longer cable runs than ethernet.

Different strokes yes. Wouldn't recommend analogue for a large business but still good (and improving all the time) for small shops and homes.

Need some advice for those that "know" hikvision.
I'm having a very hard time understanding what the difference is between these two DVRs: (DS-7216HQHI-K2) and the ( iDS-7216HQHI-M2/S).

They cost about the same. Both are 16channel. Both do 4 channel line crossing detection with the accusense one also doing facial recognition on one. But I can't really figure out why they two such similar DVRs and which is better?

If you are able to DIY and have the ability to tinker, IP POE camera + POE-enabled Switch + BlueIris for software surveillance will be your best solution. The ability to setup motion detection zones on each camera, see your CCTV footage on your mobile phone in realtime and receive mobile app notification when motion is detected in any of the cameras is awesome.

The difference is in the analytic capability, with the acusense doing some "deep learning" for perimiter detection and human and vehicle analysis as opposed to standard motion and line crossing detection.

Specs attached.
