CD to MP3: Format shifting allowed, but pirates beware, says RiSA

I also don't think what Mr David du Plessis says really matters. RiSA has not given anybody any rights. He essentially just say they won't try to actively prosecute you... yet. I suspect mostly because it would be impractical and not a revenue creator like the American ones. The law needs to change. And for the better - I am very afraid that we get bullied into ACTA, like we got bullied into FICA. "Piracy supports terrorism. Please go make schoolkids criminals."
 
So "format shifting" is sort-of OK then. Great. RISA, where can I get free digital versions of my old LPs and cassettes so that I don't have to shell out more $$$ for the CDs, as you have insisted I do up to now?

Guy in my office has "Die Stem" as a ringtone..pls RISA prosecute that dude to the maximum..before that he had "StarWars Emporer's March tune" for like 2 years..and would let it play in all its glory and chuckle an evil laugh :(..me hates poeples !

... so, can we relax now - I usually do share copies that were downloaded and not ripped from a legally purchased CD...:wtf:

.. and just about the rotten system - do you remember when Radiohead released their free album... and the "recording industry was in shock ?" (I personally did pay them US $10 )

Hello, my name bluegoo and I am a criminal. I purchase cd's and make backup copies onto cd and then convert them into mp3. I am guilty of copyright infringement, but I do not steal cars. I am a criminal.

I have hundreds of original old tape cassettes that were legally purchased. That means that I have the right to download free digital versions of those albums for my own personal use :)
 
I think music leads to piracy. It has a bad influence. I propose we outlaw all recorded music. That way no-one will be able to break the law. All recorded music should be banned and must be destroyed by law. Companies dealing in music production have to cease or find themselves prosecuted and their property confiscated by the state.

Now that would be cool.
