RiSA is a group of dying doomed old dinosaurs in suits.

Their business model and distribution format is collapsing around their ears daily... yet they blindly try to prop it up with legal threats and mafia style tactics.

Within another ten years the landscape will have changed completely and their fossilised bones will be buried under multiple strata of new technologies. :D

Whenever I read or hear anything by these "businesses" all that filters through is that annoying buzz of an utter hypocrite.

There is nothing quite like a self-righteous leech profiteering off of an archaic and fundamentally flawed "business" model to get my blood boiling.

Correct. The fact that it's 30+ years old makes it dated. It was never written for the technological age of today and does not take any of said technology into account.

Du Plessis considers the issue an academic one and says that it shouldn't be viewed in isolation. "The interests of authors outweigh the academic question of whether people will be prosecuted for making private copies, especially when no-one has ever been sued for this.

The law also allows the prosecution of honest law-abiding citizens. The interests of the authors are important, yes, but isn't it a higher priority to protect the innocent from unjust laws? Don't you think it's just a little unethical to be criminalising the honest many just to serve the few? And lets be honest here, that law probably makes criminals out of the authors of the works that you're trying to protect. Nice going.

Pirate it all!!!! The copy rights today only protect the people making the money. The Recording Lables and promoters not the artists. In South Africa its playing shows that pays. Not CD sales.

RiSA, MPAA, RIAA and other similar groups should be declared illegal and shut down. Law should be changed to reflect that.
 
So first they quote the act saying that it will be illegal to make a backup of your CD, then they say it will be fine?

Who the fark do these clowns think they are to decide what is is illegal or not under the act? Who gave them the authority to pick and choose? It either is or it isn't.
 
Nothing new. We already know RiSA hasn't got the balls to prosecute anyone using a 30 year old law. They thought last weeks scare tactics would help their cause. LOL. It just turned everyone against them, not just us hardcore pirates.

The problem with their preferred amendments to the copyright act, are that they only take one sides motives into account. Namely their members profits. Well **** you RiSA and MAFIAA. Society's benefit comes first. So unless you concede a few key points, like dropping the copyright term back to seven years, you can kiss my ass, despite any laws you may manipulate to your liking.

I thought this was common knowledge.:confused: The artist is lucky to get anything from an album's sale. First the record company takes recording fees, management fees, promotion fees, advertising fees and every other fee you can think of, and a few you wouldn't imagine. The artist only gets his 5% if there's anything left after these pigs have been at the trough. This is of course after the retailer and wholesale have taken 20% each.
