Celeron D Question

not very well

p4 3.2 and p4 3.0 ghz are cheap enough now to buy them

even an amd 3200 64 bit is cheap now so buy that rather

celeron = office use
p4 and amd = gaming and even the p4's suck for gaming only the conroe's are decent for gaming

Man, if you can, stay away from those CPUs - it's basically a castrated Pentium4. And not just for gaming, for everything on your pc.

Rather look around for second-hand P4s, there's a lot of people selling it to buy Core2Duo systems.

Just shop around....

Thanks for all the input and help guys, but the problem is that the budget does not allow for anything more.

What i want to know is will the games run. This will not be used for heavy gaming or online gaming, but rather the occassional new game.

Will the Celeron-D 3.2Ghz, 1Gb Ram be okay?

yes it should be fine

what vga card you using

li still wouldnt do it though, but if your on a budget and are not going to play the new heavy cpu using games then you'll be fine

ive heard tetris is now in 3d

no but seriously try and get a p4 or amd for gaming

rather save up for it then by celeron

Ag, no problem with the Celeron D 3,2, its quite nippy. Graphics card and amount of RAM is more important than the CPU. Lots of people dont get that a Celeron D is so much better than willamete based Celeron, they stuck on the old days.

Try to get the Intel 352 Celeron-D 3.2ghz, 65nm prescott, 512kb L2 cache one rather than the Intel 351 Celeron-D 3.2ghz, 90nm prescott, 256k L2 cache, its run cooler and has double the cache...

I think my P4 3Ghz is still a decent CPU, just need some more RAM and a better graphics card and I am set for another year or 2.

Thanks guys. So if i can get my hands on a Celeron-D 352 3.2Ghz, I should be okay. Unless there is someone out there wanting to get rid of a Pentium 4 805 Dual Core?

Those celerons overclock quite nicely if you have a good mobo. Check some reviews out with google.

DjStyles, if you want to spend Celeron money to play games, get an AMD Sempron - they're much more powerful.

celeron is no good for gaming china

dont even think about it

cpu are not important for gaming rofl

ok yes thats why everyone in world plays games with amd 64 and p4

ive never seen someone playing games with a celeron

thats just stupid :)

new games are heavy on cpu and celeron wont cut it

I think my P4 3Ghz is still a decent CPU, just need some more RAM and a better graphics card and I am set for another year or 2.

That's exactly what I'm gonna do! Keep my P4 3Ghz, beef up the RAM to 2GB and get a beefier graphics card.

I can already run Vista without any problems, but I want to run it smoothly.

I have a celeron d 2.4Ghz that i overclock to 2.8Ghz with a 6600gt and 1 gig ram, and so far i have been able to play all the games, only oblivion and titan quest have really made my system suffer, Most other games i can run on medium to high graphics @ 1024 x 768, even oblivion i can run at that res, just some advanced settings that i had to turn down some....
So yeah i think it should be ok

So i think it's safe to assume no one is selling there P4 3.0Ghz CPU's?

Guys thanks again for all the help.

I just cant bring myself to buy Celeron again. What to do, what to do?

What Celeron did you have DjStyles? You cant compare a Celeron D to the previous ones, these ones (the 512kb cache ones) are basically P4's with a different name...

Why not get a nice 3200+ rather anyway?
