Cell C 21.6 Speedstick offer

Sorry mate but you don't have a leg to stand on.

Everyone who has replied to you knows/knew that when they bought this package that they were prepaying 5Gig a month. Only you seem to have managed to misread the situation.

Accept you are wrong - that this is a great deal from Cell C - and maybe eat humble pie and apologies for bad mouthing Cell C!

And to echo someone else, if you want roll-over then this package isn't for you - but if you had done your research - you would know that.

A separate issue is why can't we have roll-over for our 5Gigs - hmmph nice, we all agree with you on that!

Nice to have - but its not part of this offer. What part of that can't you understand? If you want new commercial conditions - then yes, tell Trevor. Cell C does actually respond to feedback if it can. Unlike other cell phone companies who are faceless and could care-less!

i know vodacom and mtn is more expensive but here you can use the data that you have bought.
this is clearly the difference between the MTN/Vodacom and Cell C.

It is all about the product, "Cell Data" bundles is a niche mark, and vodacom has shown this, they made a profit of over 1 BN on data over the last year.
Cell C is late entering this market, so all they did was to put a pakage together that is cheaper but this pakage is tied into a monthly usage.
Where the other service provider allow you to use what you have bought.
 
C0de, the product price is also less due to you paying upfront...I understand that this is not how you want the product to work for you, but the product was never marketed as the '60gb use as you like'.

Here is something else, with this cell c pakage.. if i only use 4 gig a month, you will expect that the remaining 1 gig will roll over to the next month, Well it does not (and this is where i think the consultant that explained it to me were wrong)
i was hoping that the data that was not used will roll over to the next month. To my suprise i was told that it does not.
I was told that this pakage allow you 5 gig per month, if you dont use the entire 5 gig you will lose the data that you have not used. next month you will start with 5 gig again, and not 5 gig + the remaining from the prevevious month.

That's true and I agree it's not cool, but I also knew that before and still think I'm getting a good deal even if I don't use it all. Vodacom and MTN used to work exactly the same way.
These days, with Vodacom, your bundle expires at the end of the next calendar month so it's still not indefinite rollover but at least you have an extra month to use your data (unless you buy towards the end of the month, then it pretty much expires after a month, give or take a day or two).

You could, of course, go to vodacom and pay R11000 for 60G and as long as you use it all before the end of the next month you got what you want
 
Read the T's & C's clearly available on the Cell C website, if you don't like the deal, as others have said, go elsewhere

RULES AND BENEFITS
• The contract is valid for 12 months
• Customers will receive:
- a Cell C SIM card
- applicable USB dongle and
- 2GB/5GB data per month over 12 months
• 2GB or 5GB data (depending on your promotion) is allocated on a monthly basis, over 12 months
• Data allocated (and the subscription fee) in the first month will be pro-rated according to the number
of days remaining in the month
• On the 1st of every subsequent month, a new 2GB or 5GB is allocated for that month
• There is no carry-over of any unused data from one month to the following month
• The included data is applicable to local usage only (i.e while in South Africa), international data roaming
usage will be charged directly to your bill
• If you deplete your monthly data allocation before the end of the month, you can keep surfing at our out of bundle rate (39c per MB)
• This additional usage will be billed to your next bill
- Monthly allocated data is always depleted first (before any charges are levied to your account)
 
@OP: Do you even understand why they don't allow roll overs of unused gb's? It helps reduce costs since not everyone will actually reach their allocated 2/5gb. If they allowed roll overs they wouldn't be charging 3k. It would be more like 4k. And then people wouldn't consider it such a great offer. Would you pay an extra k for roll over benefits? I doubt it. And yet you insist on having this benefit while still paying the same amount.

What do you actually expect from Cell C? They've already clearly stated everything in the terms and conditions. Do they need to make adverts explaining why they don't allow roll overs just so that a few customers won't throw tantrums when they find out? This offer is tailored more at consumers who know a thing or two about 3g and as such it appears you don't fall into this market. Perhaps your failure to comprehend this concept is the least of your worries.

If you want a package that is customised to your needs than expect to pay more. Don't expect to pay the minimum amount for 5gb a month via 3g.

just before i left the office to go and buy the unit, i thought i will call the Cell C shop close to us to make sure of what i have read and understood is correct.

when i called the shop, I was told the following.
When you buy the modem you get, the modem/simcard and 60Gig of data witht the package.
BUT ...
you can only use 5G of that data per month.

so if you need more that 5G of bandwidth for the month you need to buy more bandwidth for that specific month, and it does not roll over.

And I think it's called "prepaid" because you pay before you use, as opposed to "postpaid", where you pay after you use. I might be wrong, but that seems to make perfect logical sense to me.
 
If you need 6GB for the month then go pay Vodacom/MTN close to R800 for it. Remember to use it up between 30-60 days as it will expire. I think you will have more complaints there.
 
Remember that the "21mbps" connection is flipping fast. If they let you use all 60GB in one go (which is fairly easily possible in about 10 hours or so) then you will sit with this useless thing for the other 11 months and 29 days of the year.
 
This guy is a classic, wonder whats gonna happen to his trainees......lol
