Cell C 21Mbps population coverage at 43%

Nice, but within 700 meters from my house I have several dead zones, where reception is non existent or so bad that it is impossible to make/receive a phone call. I complained about this several times and I know of others as well who have exactly the same problems. This is not in some remote area, but in centurion.

Half the time I get covered by vodacom as well. What is going to happen when their agreement with vodacom stops ? Will I have then bad reception in those areas where I pick up a vodacom tower ?

Just checked their 3g coverage map, looks like my house and a small area around it have NO Wooosh Coverage (It is f......g red all around me except my house)

Well the coverage map finally shows that I have coverage at my house and that the whole of UP's Hatfield Campus is covered, though I've heard from more than one friend that they've been having issues out the wazoo in, on and around campus.

Well done Cell C. They have proved themselves to me in the 5 months that I have been using their high speed data. They have kept their word, and their rollout has been far quicker than their competition. Sure, there are still small pockets of areas with weak or no HSPA - RF at UHF spectrum are severely affected by trees/foliage/buildings.....although 900mhz is far more forgiving than 2.1ghz. But don't expect it to be like switching on a floodlight, and the entire area would be covered, it doesn't work that way - look how long Vodacom took to get 3G coverage to 50 %

Give Vodafone credit for one thing- their coverage map is excellent compared to Cell C's. I really don't need to see all the Cell C shops. In addition, I don't see much change in the coverage of Mpumalanga over the past 4 months.

click legend and click cell c stores and bam they gone ;)

Still very patchy in Richards Bay.....and our airport is also not covered.

I am getting excellent speeds in Richards Bay - Meerensee suburb. Have never got less than about 7Mbps since November. Maybe try a 3G wireless router, I bought a new one for R 399. Put your Cell C dongle in it, and leave your router in the best spot in your house....near a window, or even outside under your roof overhang etc. Then you connect wirelessly anywhere in your house through the router that is always in a good spot
