I've been trying to upgrade (yes, give Cell C MORE money) for a while now, but I think I've gotten to the point where I'm content waiting to port...
In a nutshell - I was looking at the Galaxy S/Galaxy Tab (as I don't really need a new phone), on Cell C the Galaxy S is ~R430 on ActiveChat 220, and the Tab is ~R680 on BusinessChat 400 with a pay in.
MTN offer the Galaxy S for R280, and the Tab for R430. Yes, on not quite equal packages, but that's irrelevent, if i lower the packages on Cell C, the pay-ins shoot up!
EVERY time I call Cell C, I've had to wait 15 to 30 minutes to talk to somebody who just says "sorry, you can't get a deal as good as elsewhere with us"
The retention dept calls me and says "MTN/VC have a bigger market share, therefore they can offer better devices for cheaper..."
Its no wonder you have a small market share - your service is k@k, your deals are k@k. The joke of it is, even Virgin have better deals than you... I lived this long without 3G, maybe a little longer won't kill me.
