Cell C and BlackBerry

"coming soon" in Cell C terms means just before hell freezes over, so a long wait ahead for us. Please prove me wrong Cell C... ;)

Just checked their site and to my surpise see that they're making mention of "getting their stock soon".

Never thought I'd see the day when CellC got on the BB bandwagon :)

They are useless, I went into a Cell C shop the other day and the guy says they are ready to launch the BB's but he doesn't know when they will launch the actual BIS service, HELLO what is the point of launching a BB and not BIS, IDIOTS!!

On the other hand Nashua Mobile did tell me that apparently they will be annoucing next week sometime when BIS will be available, hold thumbs it's soon.

Lets first see them on the bandwagon before we get excited, hehehehehe

Popped into a store today, and was told BB is being launched August only. I'm tired of the lies their staff tell...

Received the following email from Cell C today, basically in summary they've been stringing us along for the last 3 months or so and still do not have any intention to deliver.

Good day

Kindly be advised that a final date to roll out blackberry and 4G has not been finalized and this will be communicated as soon as Cell C is ready to provide these services.
Thank you for contacting Cell C.

I gave the representative of Cell C until today to answer some basic questions regarding their service.

Tomorrow we port 3 accounts from Cell C to MTN.

Cell C is the smallest of the mobile operators, and it is no wonder why. They can't keep their word, never get back to you when you query something, and are generally useless.

Just spoke to a call centre agent at Cell C, to get my expiry date so I know when to port away, asked him when is Blackberry going live his response was in August at the earliest, and it hasnt gone live yet because they don't have the numbers as yet. My interpretation of this answer is that we will never get Blackberry running as the longer they take the more Blackberry users they lose, and will hence never reach the magic number they need.

I'm now porting 5 numbers away from them, and all to Vodacom Blackberry service..

cellc c on bb

I've taken a VC prepaid and activated BB on it so long, forwarding my Cell C calls to the Vodacom number currently I'm on Control Chat so no surprise bills there, will give Cell C a chance if and when they have BB available. Otherwise in 10 months time when my contract is up cheers, will port my number to VC.

warwickw, can you please tell me how you forward your calls from vc prepaid to cell c on your bb, i swoped my e71 for a bb just to find out the next day i cant go on the bloody internet with it! im on active chat 220

I think you misunderstood, I got a Vodacom prepaid activated the Blackberry service on it and then forwarded all my calls from Cell C to the Vodacom prepaid number. That way I have BB service via Vodacom and still get my calls.

A very pleasant bimbo called me Friday afternoon, I have been put on the "priority" list for getting Cell C Blackberry. For those of you that don't know the "priority list" is merely a mechanism to get you to shut your pie hole and stop complaining. According to said bimbo the BB service is still in 'testing' and has been since May, and I can only realistically expect any more developments when testing is over, probably in 3 to 5 months, possibly more. What a joke. By then my contract would have expired and I will have had no choice but to move to another provider. Retards.

Just hang in there guys, its comming - should be more or less within a few days...

Remember, its taking Cell C ONLY 9 years to be upto speed with BB and 3.75G , MTN and VC had way more time to get this done.

lets give them a chance - we waited for so long, whats another couple of DAYS

Well, I must say, combined with the Allweek 100 contract and (hopefully) a cheapish data-add on, this could make the BB8520 specials one sees everyone redundant extremely fast. I mean, you don't need 3G for the phone, so EDGE data is perfect. And R100 (or even less) for 100 anytime minutes is really a good!

I did not do my research, before i was peer pressured into ordering myself a blackberry on my moms contract as her upgrade. Now i sit with a blackberry, with no BIS, as my own contract is Cell C. Do you think I will be able to get the blackberry services activated, with the costs added to my current Cell C contract when blackberrys are made available? I really don't want to lose my number. Hope my question makes sense....

I should think so - both Vodacom and MTN is the same. Otherwise migrate your contract to something more expensive that includes the BB service.
