Cell C and Iphone

I need some advice please, as CellC cannot assist me.
My Son has an Iphone 5 with CellC contract sim in, since this morning it shows Cellc and 3G in the display, all the little circles are there that indicate signal but they all appear " empty" and he cannot make or take any call. CellC tested the sim and says there is nothing wrong with the sim. I then took my Vodacom nano sim and inserted it into his phone, and it works perfect, signal is there, makes call etc.

As another test i took his sim and inserted it into my Ipad Air, sim works signal is there, no problem.

I have done a reset on his phone, also a reset on network setting, but no change.

If i also take another Cellc Nano sim and insert it into his phone, it gives the same problem, no signal, allthough it show the circles and the Word Cellc and 3G

What next? It appears that the phone does not want to work with any CellC sim

Why not try your son's sim in your iPhone? see if that has an effect?

From Vodacom, but has been working fine with a CellC sim in it now for the past 2 months

Done that and it works fine. And if i install my Vodacom sim in his Phone it works fine

Very odd. Don't Cell C operate on different frequencies to Vodacom and MTN? Maybe the rx/tx radio has failed?

Just an update: phone is not connected to Wifi, but he can still send and recieve Whatsapps. Would it be likely that the phone is blacklisted?

I did, CellC says the Sim tests fine.

I think the phone has failed. The voice and data radios are I think, discrete, this would explain why you can get whatsapp etc but no voice transmission. Can you access the internet via Safari?

Try another operator (Network Provider) from a friend.

i had a similar problem, also CellC with Iphone, Data worked 100% but no voice, i could not make or receive calls, what i did was the following, set courier to manual, select vodacom instead of CellC, make sure wifi is turned of, while the phone is on remove the sim, reinsert it and set courier back to automatic, strangely enough after this it worked.
