This is what im getting at work (10 mins from where i live) during the day, so im gathering my local tower is overloaded at night.
Reckon its different towers from home to work as i live in pinetown but work in New Germany.

So i guess there is nothing that can be done about it? Overloaded is overloaded...... guess i will just have to live with it.

Or move to Danville, Pretoria...

I've been suffering from poor download speeds since Sunday last week in Bedfordview / Fishers Hill and Solheim area. When I connect to the net, its fine for about 10 minutes. Speedtest download speed at around 5mb/s with ping of around 90ms. After that, the speeds start decaying and end up at around 50k a second with awful ping of 1020ms. When the network is running fine, I get speeds of around 7mb/s and ping of around 60ms.

I have also noticed that I cannot connect to Pingtest with Cell C. Not via my woosh stick nor via my RBM phone. Gives me an error saying that there is a firewall blocking it. Any thoughts Cell_C?

HAHAHHAHAHA - Poor Speeds is what Cell C is all about.

Once you go Black, you never go Swooooooosh

I've been experiencing horrible speeds in Parow East and Brackenfell since February 2011 already with NO improvement.

I'm just using it because I already paid for this .K.A.K.

As soon as this one year contract is finished I'm going back to Vodacom, at least they have decent coverage in my area. In fact, I still use my Vodacom connection when Cell C gets unbearable.

You referring to this connection?

Vodacom 3G network is officially in its m03r ... disconnects, no throughput, timeouts galore ... TRUE TO FORM!

It's been going like this the entire week. Well done!!

Anyone else in CT experiencing this?

Having major problems with disconnects all of yesterday and today (Parow East) ...
Anyone else experiencing frequent disconnects?

I don't know why people are still complaining .... this is what Vodacom 3G is all about. I've always had problems. It's just the frequency of these problems that changes. Sometimes everything will be working fine for a couple of days with the odd disconnect/timeout/no throughput, then all of a sudden all hell breaks loose where I struggle for a day or sometimes 2 days to get a stable connection. This is NEVER gonna change people.

This is just my opinion ... but Vodacom 3G is THE MOST UNRELIABLE BROADBAND SERVICE PROVIDER in S.A

But what else did you expect .... we are living in South Africa where paying for bad service is now the norm ...

Don't you just love it when they don't let us know what the problem was .... there view is .... It's fixed, so shut up and go surf/download .

So does anybody know why the data network (3G, GPRS and EDGE) was down for hours last night? between 7pm - 10pm??
I phoned 155 but the recorded messages said that they are aware of the problems and are looking into it. So I didn't bother to wait for a reference number.

3 hours downtime?? that's unacceptable.

This was in the Brackenfell area in Cape Town. Not sure if other areas were also affected.

Clearly Vodacom is really trying their best to lose clients ...

I'm still experiencing frequent disconnects. This started about 2 weeks ago already.

1) Location: Parow East as well as Brackenfell (Protea Heights)
2) Time of issue: since i logged in this morning at 8:30am
3) Device: Novatel MC950D
4) Contract Type (pre-paid, contract, hybrid): Pre-paid Data Bundle
5) Existing reference numbers from 155: None
6) speed.vodacom.co.za results (if possible): Not needed since i'm having problems with frequent disconnects and not speed issues. When I am connected, the speeds are fine

;) :p

Hi guys

Can everyone who have experienced deteriorating download speeds please write their address down when they post on here? Cell C do check these forums and it will be easier for them to check for a problem if they know where you are.

Or they could just update their location field in their profile.

Lack of Wooooosh, Cell C

:
Hi Folks! is anyone else experiencing this? I have the Black Speedstick from Cell C and was getting speeds up up to 9mb download and 1.5mb upload but now am only getting 1.2mbps download and 0.03mbps upload(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1224786959.png). I havent moved and the device used to get good speeds. Is it a localised fault as I not getting any feedback from Cell C. This has been happeining for about 14 days? My location is Cowey Rd, Durban. Would be nice to know if its just me so I know where to start trouble shooting. Thanks CDS

Hi csayer
Same problem with Cell C in Cape Town. 7-8 MB up to Dec 2010. Jan, 2011 wasn't too bad ... Feb was terrible, March bad & right now download speeds are below 20 kbps ...i.e. just hanging. Hopefully someone will report them to the Consumer Protection Council soon.
