Hello all,
I have a question for members and the rep.

I would really like to convert to cell c once my vodacon contract ends in december.

To the rep, do you also have some upcoming specials papers I have seen other operators have published here..

Members, how do you find cell c's service, especially contract billing.
Because my area doesn't have 3g it would be great if another member who uses their gprs edge network can comment about its quality please.

Regards,

I will be brutally honest. CellC EDGE is not usable at all with a weak signal. Been there, done that.

If you got a good/excellent signal, then you might be able to use it.

I have found that trying to open more than one webpage on a poor signal absolutely kills the connection.

The best thing you can do is, get a prepaid SIM, load it up with data bundles, and try it out first.

If i do happen to be on edge with cellc I force it to roam on vodacom.

Edit: edge still is way to slow dont even consider it as a permanent solution

You say definitely there is no 3G in your area. Did you check on the corerage map? My area is not officially covered, but 3G is present and with external antenna we have good connection. If you check coverage with a modem, make sure it is UMTS 900MHz compatible, as many 3G modems are not.

Honestly, Cell C needs to really, really, really, re... -okay, I'll stop here- work on their signal strength. I ported to them from Vodacom last year and comparatively speaking Vodacom is miles ahead of Cell C in signal strength. Cell C are pathetic in that area, no, make that laughable.

I know what you are going to ask, well, I stay with them because I can roam on Vodacom. If it wasn't for that and their great value for money I would've gone back to Voda or moved on to another network. Having written that, however, I am not going to put up with Cell C's crappy coverage and signal strength if they don't drastically improve within the next two to three years.

If you can live with the signal issues then they are the best mobile provider by far.

NOW IMPROVE THE DARN SIGNAL AND COVERAGE, CELL C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
