This post is by no means meant to run a company down or damage their reputation. You will see that they are more than capable of doing it themselves.
We often see comparisons of service providers and their ratings and I always wonder if all those participants were just tagging along or if they actually had issues which had to be resolved. For example, I have been with Cell C for so many years with literally no issues. Am I a happy and loyal customer? Yes. Does that qualify me for rating their service? Actually, no. I mean, can you really rate a service provider if you never had to sort out a billing issue for example? Or, can you rate your service provider if you never had to cancel a contract?
My story started on 30 April 2022 with an email from Cell C titled Migration Quotation. I signed up for a data contract in December 2021, received the sim card (thank you) shortly aftwards, but never any paperwork. So I ignored the email for the most part. Also since it is a data sim card I didn't notice the (new) number. Well, when my statement arrived a few days later in June 2022, there it was. A brand new unauthorised data contract!
I will spare you most of the suffering since then, suffice to say that Cell C somehow:
So the first trap is rating your service provider if you never had any issues. (And no, I have never participated in any survey. No guilt here.) Their service is so broken that after each call they channel you to a service rating which doesn't even work.
The second trap I often see is when a customer receives shocking service, dragging on forever, given the runaround par excellence, and then some more. When an issue is eventually resolved … well, then the customer is relieved. Actually grateful.
At this stage I am trying to make up my mind if they are just utterly useless or plain skelm.

- added an unauthorised contract to my account
- they could not prove that I signed up for it,
- yes, after a good runaround they provided an audio clip ... of my December 2021 upgrade lol, and
- three months later I have not been able to cancel it, let alone a refund
