Has anyone else received the SMS about their price increases from July ?

I’m on openserve with them and looks like prices going up around 20% ! Roughly R130 p.m. for me .

And when one clicks the link in all the info it says I can cancel but then I’ll be liable for all the remaining portion of costs like router, connection etc.

So basically they can double the prices and I have to stay with them or pay to cancel . Sounds a bit rough.

Anyone have views on this ?

The prices should normally be stated upfront. R100/m for data and freebies to value of R2400 (modem, instalation etc) linked to a 24m contract. So your paying R200/m. If you want to cancel before end of contract you are liable for outstanding months. So if you cancel after 6 months you owe R1800. Example of standard contract.

Seems like most fibre networks are upping prices, FF sent out notification earlier this month

That I understand . But if they change their monthly pricing structure and still hold me to the cancellation fees , once you sign they can double the fees and u r liable to pay the higher fees or the cancellation charges.

Btw they increasing on 1st July but their website still shows the current fees . I feel sorry for those who sign up now and are whacked with a 20% increase in a months time

Does that apply to existing contracts too ?
Yes I believe so; I think Vuma did theirs just before lockdown so in general the networks are pushing price sup. Not sure if the cost of transit has gon eup or general inflation (labour etc)

I got the message on friday night and sent cancellation mail yesterday, no cancellation fee for me.
Only thing that sucks is they bill in Arrears unlike basically everyone else so you cant avoid a double ISP bill on change.

Sorry, but what email did you send your cancellation to? I sent mine to [email protected] & [email protected] 2 days ago, but haven't received anything back. TIA

Those mail addresses are correct. You need to send a follow-up mail asking what's the delay about. That always worked when I emailed them, even when I finally sent a cancellation request.
