Looking for some advice here for a friend, he's with Cell C/metrofibre (lol) he lives in PTA north but Cell C is taking all his traffic to Durban, and it's been like this for months. It's increasing his latency a lot, and EU games are pretty much unplayable with far over 200ms. He has spoken to their support but they say everything is fine on their end. They have a contract unfortunately but I'm sure they will switch as soon as that's over.

Sounds like they are using an East Coast cable like Eassy, some ISPs split their network that way.

Best bet is to probably switch ISPs unfortunately.

Nope so for EU they are using seacom's transit, he used to get 160ms to london, but now it's going to Durban, then loops back, goes to CPT. Everything goes to Durban as if he lives there

MPLS misconfiguration then :( he can wait until they figure it out i suppose.

I'm honestly not sure if they are even trying to fix it, Cell C just said nothing is wrong on their end. Switching after the contract would probably be best, would be nice if cell c could sort it out in the mean time though.
