Cell C fighting for its life: report

So they're hedging their bets on getting regulations changed? This after a jab at the competition?

Yeah just look at where regulation got Vodacom and MTN to while they enjoyed R1.00 asymmetry per minute from Telkom. MTN just recorded over R13 billion rand profit this year.Lets hope Cell C can also enjoy the same type of level playing field the two bigs boys enjoyed all these years.

This is actually no secret and as is pointed out in the article AKC mentioned it a long time ago that Cell C need regulation to keep them afloat,they tried to do it unsuccessfully for many years but it just could not be done as the big boys were too big.The playing field needs to be evened out.

No wonder their debt rating is junk.

CellC is products are really good value. Why are consumers not flocking there?
 
They have themselves to blame. Offering services at a loss for more than a year now ready to blame icasa when they go bust?
 
If the CTR structure is built to suit VC and MTN of course CellC is dead in the water - this isn't new
 
If CellC falls out of the picture, we will get the DSTV effect where prices go up and up and up due to "inflation".
No more nice promotions, no more need to compete.

Yep those that want to protect MTN and Vodacom will continue throwing eggs at Cell C's face but the reality is no other company/new entrant with whatever management can survive under the current regulations.

This isn't mismanagement at Cell C or Telkom mobile but actually directly as a result of the unfair playing field Vodacom and MTN have been enjoying for over 20 years.Yes they needed that unfair playing field in the first 15 years in their favour to become big and strong with lots of towers,but now the tables need to turn,its about time the smaller operators enjoyed similar regulatory benefits to grow their networks also.

as a customer of theirs, i would say that their signal is crap, i am contemplating moving back to vodacom :wtf: , i can almost never make a call without it dropping, or it loosing connection, and this is in the greater gauteng area.. :(

I guess if you going to go bust, blame the government when you do it.

I wonder if icasa is being blackmailed by cell c antics..?
