Cell C has lost its mind

Damn Cell C PR rats left us out :D (actually a nice bunch) but we've finally received the info and it's on news section http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Cellular/344.html . Thinking of getting a Cell C number to cash in on this free deal. It's great for prepaid guys, who usually pay premium rates, to get a freebie ... smart idea to target LSM 3-7 IMO.

EDIT: Librarian beat me to it :(

well, everyone at work is talking about it. They might just pull it off.

Catch:
You have to recharge during the week to get free calls on the weekend. So that means you cant just get a cell C sim to use only for the free weekend calls you got to recharge each week.

Only cell C to cell C

So how much is the smallest recharge voucher?

Dan

Is it limited to voice calls only? If not, then how can we set up modem2modem gaming? :D

The only way to abuse this is to get friends and family to buy a cell c sim... hey their plan is working. Damn

I've been too sheepishly embarrassed to admit how ignorant I am, but I am biting the bullet, what does "LSM 3-7" stand for .

Me too :D

And my wifes on Cell C, but bad reception wherever we go. But might be worth it to get a cheapy sim. Also you'll have to get everyone on board.

Volumes are what they're looking at and it might just work.

I wonder if there's a catch? Hope the network can handle the load. :D

The catch is it is restricted to 120 minutes per weekend.......not bad.

If you on a contract you first have to use up your free minutes before the weekend free minutes kick in.

AFAIK, LSM is used as a measure of wealth distribution. People are classified in 'levels'- eg 'LSM-3'; 'LSM-13' according to their consumer behaviour. The higher the LSM level, the greater the individual's spending and spending power.

as far as i am concerned anything free is more than welcome.. .. i plan to buy the cheapest recharge voucher ... use it for my business calls (company pays) and hook up wife and mum-in-law with 8hours free talk time per month

there is always a catch, but at least this confirms that cell c network is in trouble,I think so.

It was said that the amount of users they wanted was not near the target at the end of last year. Maybe they hope to gain customers that will use more that the R5 prepaid and 120 free mins.

I would rather say (if I needed to save my company):

"Use Cell C and phone out more than R15 and send more than 10 sms and you will qualify for the free mins on weekends."

I think the title of this thread should be changed to 'cell c changes the face of south african telecommunication'! When was the last time anything was free in south africa? Overseas, people get local calls for free. Finally a network has the balls to offer something free to their customers. I have already used up over an hour of my free minutes and i'm impressed. Sure, you're gonna get 'network busy' sometimes. Thats because the rest of the networks need to wake up and offer the same. Go out and support cell c!
