Hey Guys/Girls,

I did search the forum and couldn't really get an answer for my question.

Is there a way to test LTE Advanced, before I just go and sign up for a contract?

Hi SharkBait

Yes, you can get a free test sim card at any Cell C outlet. Kindly ensure that your area is covered and that you have a compatible device.

Yes, my area is covered. Just to confirm, is this the same as a normal LTE sim? If I purchase the 100GB smartdata pre-paid bundle, and I am in a LTE Advanced covered area with compatible device, would it use LTE Advanced automatically?

Lastly, on my iPhone 7+, if LTE shows as 4G, what will LTE Advanced show as?

I have the same questions...

It uses the same LTE sim card and it will show as 4G on your device. Yes, it will go on automatically.

Sorry to say this then, but for all we then know, we could be on LTE only, but it's claimed to be LTE Advanced...

Edit: I guess the only way to see a difference, would be on a speedtest?

You can see on Telkom forum that LTE-A speeds are not much faster as would be expected from the specs. It is the same technology with improvements like dynamic band agregation, higher modulation schemes and more. To use it you should have ideal signal condition, and not many LTE users, as it use the same frequency bands as LTE. It is like HSPA+ vs. older HSPA.
